So my older DB had a significant birthday in March and I haven't got him anything. This isn't quite as bad as it sounds - we don't usually do adult birthdays (only major ones) and we don't currently live in the same country. So although we get on very well, it's not like we live in each other's pockets.

However, we will actually be seeing him this weekend and I suddenly realised I haven't done anything present-wise. This wouldn't even be so bad except that it was also my DP's significant birthday just after Christmas and I have this awful premonition that we'll meet up - DB will have bought something lovely and thoughtful for DP and I will have done nothing and it will all be dreadful.

Please come up with some ideas of great things I could get in preferably no time whatsoever, with a budget of £50, that say 'Happy 30th' (not literally say that, you understand....)

Will he have to carry it back to another country?

Marmighty · 26/07/2019 21:54

Does he drink spirits, pricey bottle of whiskey or port? You can get 30 year old malts. Not very personal though. What shops can you go to in the morning?

A watch? A memory/photo of you and him from childhood? A voucher for an experience? Voucher for multinational store?

If you can get to a department store, a nice bag, wallet, headphones. Really posh chocolates?

widgetbeana · 26/07/2019 21:58

An experience? Like go ape, driving day?

Marmighty · 26/07/2019 21:58

A nice bit of kit for a hobby? Sports gear, lens for a camera, etc

As pp said, nice bottle of spirits, 30 year old malt.
Otherwise, nice aftershave, specialist cheeses or other foods that he may miss as living abroad.
Does he have a hobby?
Gift box of wine, snacks, books, any other bits he would like.
Scarf, jumper, wallet...

Event tickets, like a gig or the theatre?

winterisstillcoming · 26/07/2019 22:27

Just print off a voucher for an experience. Or go to the coop and get a voucher with a nice bottle.
