AirBnB visitors

Just wondering if, as an Airbnb visitor, you tap up the locals for information?
There is a pretty cottage opposite us in a lovely village location.
Nearly every weekend we get a chap on the door from guests asking about local pubs, restaurants and local visitor attractions and what would we recommend?
Is this a thing?
Happy to oblige but have they never heard of Google and especially trip advisor?
You can get a signal in the village ( even if you have to hang upside down from the bathroom window).
Are holidaymakers just excited to connect with locals?

Ha ha Catsdolls, unfortunately I’m one of the few mnetters who will answer the door to strangers after teatime.
I wouldn’t speak to the owner because I don’t want the owner to think his guests are being a nuisance because they are really not.
Just asking if it was a bit weird or not.
I think on trip advisor the village is labelled as really friendly so suspect this is the reason.

Are you in Builth Wells? Because I think I know the airbnb.

Finfintytint · 27/07/2019 19:58

No Sleepyhead, bit further up.

How fucking rude to accuse the OP of lying because it doesn't happen to you! That's also troll hunting and against Talk Guidelines.

We live in a rural area and this does happen.

Another poster lives similarly and has had the neighbour's AirB&B guests come knocking for all sorts, including wanting to be put up when they locked themselves out of their lodging!

I'd check the listing as the owners might have used you as a reference.

I think the accuser has form. Not bothered about troll hunting as the accuser has done this before. It's just an observational thread about tourists.
Nice thing to be bothered about,. Tourists are good for my area.
Not lying and not sure about anyone lying about such an inconsequential boring thing.

‘I AM BIT THE FUCKING ORACLE’

Soola · 27/07/2019 20:41

Bit means not

Have you read the air bnb reviews? See if they mention lovely neighbours

Finfintytint · 27/07/2019 20:49

See, Soola, I am the fucking oracle Grin.

This happens to my DH’s aunt in rural Yorkshire. She gets walkers dropping in asking for directions a couple of times a week during the summer.

Once we held my DD’s birthday party there and it started to rain. There was a knock on the door and then the five-year-olds and assembled family were joined by a small group of hikers who My aunt ushered in to eat their lunch out of the rain!
