Can't help I'm afraid, but interested in hearing people's experience.
It might help if you are a bit more specific in which type you are after. Complete relaxation, yoga, weight loss, self healing , Meditation, etc.
Sounds like a divine idea.

Not keen on a specific yoga retreat although I don’t mind yoga I don’t want to do just that

Thank you

I went on a yoga retreat in ibiza about a year after splitting with exh. I had a really powerful experience - partly because I felt in a safe space to process and deal with my emotions. I cried for the whole week, but I was surrounded by people who were able to help me reframe my experiences and the way I was looking at the world.

Ever since I've been way more chilled, settled, generally happier. I now try and do a retreat every year - although not drawn to spiritual retreats in the way I was when I really needed it.

skinkymalinki · 26/07/2019 19:37

Yes that’s exactly what I need. A safe space to process my emotions .
Do you go to the same one always ?

No - different ones. I do quite a lot of yoga, and since then have been going on retreats run by instructors that I like, with a schedule that appeals. For me its a chance to completely reboot.

If I felt like I had slipped back and needed a more spiritual retreat then I wouldn't hesitate in going back to the same place in Ibiza. Finances permitting that is.

I think if you're feeling like you need some space to process your emotions then it would probably do you the world of good to find somewhere safe to do so. There are so many retreats around too that offer different experiences that I'm sure you will find one that is right for you.

I've been on Christian retreats, I can recommend scargill house in the Yorkshire dales if that's the sort of thing you are looking for.

I stayed at this silent retreat in Bali for 2 days: www.balisilentretreat.com

I'm not really a yoga person but doing it at sunrise surrounded by rice fields was a totally different experience. We did some group meditation with 'om' chants which was just incredible and so uplifting. Or you could do walking meditation alone in the labyrinth or chill in the outdoor hammocks with a book. I spent most of the time reading or walking around the grounds.

Highly recommended. I did it as part of a holiday in Indonesia.

I know of one that is opening in Sussex. I have been looking into it.
They do self healing, fitness, healthy eating it's made for what you want with loads of optional extras like massage etc.

skinkymalinki · 26/07/2019 21:24

My friend goes to Athona in Essex once a year, she finds it very useful.

I went on a retreat at a Buddist Monestry once. It was very peaceful and I got a lot out of it (I am not a Buddist).

The Body Retreat!!

www.thebodyretreat.co.uk

Ticked EVERY box for me. They do a range - I did the weight loss retreat, but you don’t have to necessarily be overweight to do that one. There were all shapes and sizes, from size six to size 20. If you want a lovely balance of incredibly healthy and delicious food, exercise, relaxation (both structured and unstructured, group or 1:1), spa treatments and bags of time to yourself in gorgeous surroundings, I can’t recommend them highly enough. They do them both in the UK and in France or Spain.

Next time I can scrape the money together I reckon I’ll be doing their de-stress retreat. Love them!

I went on one to Italy. It was a bit mad. It was run via a company called The Hill That Breathes. I think they still do them but not in the same place.

HelloDoris · 26/07/2019 22:42

A relative of mine is currently at this one www.lacrisalidaretreats.com/ she's not gone for the yoga but for the space to breathe and think, although she has found the yoga helpful. I think shes on the 2 week
life makeover retreat. She's loved it and said it's been very useful for her mental health.

ladybird69 · 27/07/2019 02:16

That sounds just what I need.

ineedaknittedhat · 27/07/2019 06:00

I went on a catholic one once. The old building was very cold and I had a hot water bottle and spent a lot of time in bed. The food was nice, as were the nuns. I did feel a bit bored and unfocused though and got a bit homesick.

skinkymalinki · 27/07/2019 08:52

Some great ideas thanks , I am hoping to book one soon
