litter - why

on a train in central europe.

can't help noticing how little litter is visible along the route compared to uk.

is there more littering in uk or are they just better at picking it up here?

(going very slowly because even here the tracks don't cope well with the heat)

I think a bit part of the problem in the UK is there are no bins in stations (for obvious reasons) and people don't want to carry litter around.

but there are bins in trains.

the past 10 miles or so no plastic bag hanging from a tree and no bottles either.

the aircon is failing and the guy next to me needs a shower...

I have never seen bins on train. I have seen people come round collecting rubbish though.

even if there are no bins on trains/stations - how is it difficult not to litter?

Where I live there is a lot of litter. Empty or half drunk soft drink and alcoholic drink containers, empty disposable cups and their lids, cigarette butts and packets, vape stuff, take-away snack wrappers and chicken bones, crisp packets.

I wonder if these litterbugs have taps where they live, there's that many empty water bottles.

I definitely think we are one of the scruffier countries in terms of litter.

I will never understand the need to litter. If everyone simply disposed of their rubbish correctly, imagine how amazing everywhere would look. Makes me sad.

I also find it quite sad.
under all the bags hanging from trees and beyond the dog shit not picked up the uk is truly beautiful.
