Which brand of sanitary towels don’t cause the burning pain of a thousand suns?

I switched to washable pads when all brands started impregnating their pads with scent, causing immediate itchy agony whenever I used them. Now I have to go away for a weekend when I will be on my period with no access to laundry facilities. I have neither the time to order nor inclination to use a menstrual cup. As a one-off I will use disposables but which ones are scent-free nowadays?? I used to find that it wasn’t always labelled on the pack as it had become so ubiquitous and I really don’t want to end up inadvertently stuck with the pain (or the horrible synthetic floral smell, come to that!). Can anyone recommend a scent-free brand?

Coop own brand aren't scented, but they do feel a bit stiff and almost plasticy.

calilark · 25/07/2019 20:37

Kotex or Boots/Superdrug own brand. But Kotex is sometimes hard to find, it's all bloody scented Always bollocks

Sainsbury’s own brand. A bit thick and plasticy but do the job without stinking of cheap air freshener.

Fraggling · 25/07/2019 20:39

Lillets have started doing pads and i really like them.

Pretty sure not scented.

Most women dislike the scent I'm not sure how or why it became a thing, they were fine before!

TinyMystery · 25/07/2019 20:40

Natracare fan here! I used their big pads after my c section and they felt lovely and weren’t horrible and smelly.

dementedpixie · 25/07/2019 20:40

Lots of bodyform isn't scented. Kotex is normally found in discount chemists

britnay · 25/07/2019 20:40

Boots own brand

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 25/07/2019 20:41

I have neither the time to order nor inclination to use a menstrual cup

Shame. They are the fucking shizz.

Signifyingnothing · 25/07/2019 20:41

When I have to use a pad I use Always Infinity, but they do give me the burn by the end of the day.

I thought I want a 'mooncup person' until I tried one. Massive revelation.

Birthdayhat · 25/07/2019 20:41

Natracare are great, not scented or plasticky. A bit pricey but worth it in my opinion.

JamOnTheCarpet · 25/07/2019 20:42

The bodyform ones in the pink packet aren't scented... but you have to be careful not to buy the ones that say 'deo-fresh'.

The ones that say 'new fresh feeling' are fine, it's just the ones with the wee flowery 'deo-fresh' to avoid.

Elisheva · 25/07/2019 20:42

Bodyform are unscented.

AltCarbon · 25/07/2019 20:42

I’ve just discovered bodyform sensitive - no scent and no plasticky feeling. They’ve been great.

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 25/07/2019 20:42

I recommend the bodyform in the pink packet. More cotton like feel than a lot of others

Pearofwisdom · 25/07/2019 20:44

I've started buying maternity pads because I haven't foud any that are scented yet. You can get slim or thin versions so not an inch thick! Boots are good

PineappleSeahorse · 25/07/2019 20:46

Kotex aren't scented. Poundland, Superdrug, Home Bargains and Savers sell them, Also some pharmacies and newsagents.

Misty9 · 25/07/2019 20:47

I've changed to bodyform just this month after 20 odd years of using Always - they're unscented and great so far. I also use washable pads but in this heat I couldn't face it.

AnotherEmma · 25/07/2019 20:49

Menstrual cup. My recommendation is the Meluna. Available on Amazon Prime.

AnnaMariaDreams · 25/07/2019 20:50

Always infinity are unscented

HillRunner · 25/07/2019 20:50

Bodyform are good as long as you avoid ones labelled 'Deofresh'

TheJoxter · 25/07/2019 20:52

There’s a few eco disposable brands but I find them a- flimsy and b- still pretty itchy. Might work for you though

Natracare and ‘hey girls’ are two I can think of

orangeshoebox · 25/07/2019 20:52

natracare
it's really weird, they are really thin but can hold as much as other pads.

TooMinty · 25/07/2019 20:55

I came on to say Tesco own brand but reading back sounds like any own brand is a good bet.

superfudge · 25/07/2019 20:59

Another fan of Natracare. I have only seen them in Waitrose. In an emergency I used the budget Sainsbury's towels and they weren't scented or plasticky.
