Cheap summer clothes

Doyoumind · 25/07/2019 11:32

I'm going on holiday soon. I have no clothes that fit. I've put on so much weight. I look terrible. I literally have nothing to wear.

My budget is close to zero. I had a look in Primark but found nothing. I've looked in the sales. I may have to hit the charity shops. Any other ideas?

This isn't about being glamorous at all. It's literally about covering my body in something that will be comfortable and keep me cool.

Asda?
I popped in to my local store last week and they were rails and rails of items on sale

Soola · 25/07/2019 11:34

Look for secondhand bundles on eBay?

Or buy cheap cotton from your local market and make your own?

You can even use duvet covers bought in the sale or ones you already own to make dresses and skirts.

I was going to suggest Primark, they have basic vests and shorts surely? Otherwise I like H&M for basics if you have one near you, or supermarkets - George at Asda are quite good too

Needcoffeeimmediatley · 25/07/2019 11:35

Posted twice for some reason 🙄

LMNOhh · 25/07/2019 11:35

Charity shops. Their rails can be full of lovely stuff 😉

Doyoumind · 25/07/2019 11:38

I had a quick look in Asda but will try again. I can't see myself fitting into many shorts, which makes it difficult.

I looked in H&M as usually it's good but I found nothing. I'll have to go around them all again now that I am really desperate.

H&M. I got one really nice dress in there for £6 in the sales and another for £12. Nice lose, cotton dresses.

mindproject · 25/07/2019 11:42

Car boot sales?

mindproject · 25/07/2019 11:43

I always find much nicer stuff at car boot sales than I do in charity shops.

mindproject · 25/07/2019 11:45

New Look also has really nice stuff from time to time. I agree, that the shops are particularly bad this year. I don't like the fashions right now. I'm more likely to find things I like at a car boot sale than in the shops.

ColaFreezePop · 25/07/2019 11:48

Primark
Asda
Other large supermarkets that sell clothes
Larger markets that sell random things including clothes

The charity shops near me are more expensive or same price as all of the above.

Mrsjayy · 25/07/2019 11:49

Asda and Matalan is where i usually go for holiday clothes I'm not particularly stylish tbf but practical. I think matalan do bigger sizes if that is what you are after.

Groovee · 25/07/2019 11:51

Asda, Sainsbury's and Tesco's is where I tend to find shorts and did when I was a plus size.

drspouse · 25/07/2019 11:53

I would go for bundles on Ebay. I got about 8 really serviceable vest tops for about £5!

Sorority · 25/07/2019 11:57

Asda online. Lots of cheap items.

Also jd williams / simply be have good sales on their website. They also have a clearance shop on ebay.

iVampire · 25/07/2019 12:01

Asda

They have Bermudas up to size 24 and shorter shorts to size 20

I’ve had really good floaty tunics from them in the past, and they have a lot of lightweight summer stuff and T-shirts in general also up to size 24

Do browse charity shops if you are passing any

Sorority · 25/07/2019 12:03

Do you have any clothes now you can use, or do you need a complete holiday wardrobe? Are you staying in the UK or going abroad?
For daytime then just a swimsuit and a kaftan / sarong, and nights I normally stick to maxi dresses. Jazz them up with maybe a scarf or jewellery.

isseywithcats · 25/07/2019 12:08

everythingfivepounds.com i got most of my holiday stuff from there, their pallazo pants are lovely flattering and very lightweight to wear

Ronsters · 25/07/2019 12:37

Peacocks can be good and quite cheap

bettydaviseyes1 · 25/07/2019 16:58

New look have a massive sale on at the moment! Good luck, I hate clothes shopping

PerfectionistProcrastinator · 25/07/2019 17:14
