New passport interview - East Sussex can I get one by video link?

I have just applied for a new passport and now at the stage where I need to make an appointment for an interview, I really don't want to have to go into Lonon 🙈
does anyone know if it is possible to get an interview by video link?🙏
Are there special criteria that you have to meet in order to qualify for this concession?
Grateful for any insights or information on this one😊
(I have name changed for privacy reasons😉)

Have you never had a passport before,?

Myothername1 · 25/07/2019 10:53

it's my first ever passport!

There are people who have had them via video link from a quick Google search but no official info on it. You could call and ask? But you're only about 3 hours away max, just hop on a train.

I know it's easy to get to in theory but with all the delays on the trains... well I'm just looking for a shortcut easy option🤞

Are there any closer passport offices?

Myothername1 · 25/07/2019 11:35

London is my closest passport office but I have heard lots of talk of virtual passport interviews, but how to get one🧐

Phone and ask them

Myothername1 · 25/07/2019 11:55

I will do that @dementedpixie but first I need to know the magic password that I must utter to gain access to the easy option!

I don't think anyone here can tell you. Ask them on the phone about it

timeforakinderworld · 25/07/2019 11:58

You are expected to travel 3 hours away to get a passport? That's terrible.

Myothername1 · 25/07/2019 12:36

Exactly I don't drive, door to door it's going to be a 7 hour round trip, and that's if the trains are running well
