I have 13 coming, mix of adults, tweens and kids. I want it to be yummy, relaxed and not too much of me being in the kitchen or with dh by the bbq

I want to make burgers for the kids and that’s as far as I have gotten.

Hit me with your best ideas!

Yes, or even eat inside (unless you’re having your bbq very late in the day where the sun isn’t direct).

Also, make sure your steak is cooked rare to medium rare!! So much nicer. Plus there will be more for the actual carnivores since some people will be put off. Let them eat sausages, I say! Wink

Obviously everyone likes rare meat @Ninkaninus OP might not - presumably she’ll cook it how she and the majority of her guests like it

Some shade is a good call!

Yes I’m quite sure OP is able and capable of deciding how she wants her meat cooked! Hence the obvious winky face to signify lighthearted comment.

Steak- yes rare to medium here
Shade- check we have a parasol and a sail
Food- think we have it all sorted now!

Thanks all for your ideas, maybe I’ll take a pic

My dad always does corn on cob cooked in wrapped foil.
Jaxket.spuds.
Pork loins seasoned
Cous Cous.
Chicken drum sticks, thighs or whatever.
Burgers
Sausages
Kebabs.
Sometimes steak.
Mixed salad.
Crisps.
And whatever people bring.

He goes ott. As sometimes this is just for 6 of us.. When he has a ' big bbq' there's maybe 35+ people and it's excessive.. And generally. Leftovers to cook the next day.

my OH smokes salmon, its delicious
I marinate lamb in mint, oil and paprika overnight and throw it on the BBQ
then there is the beer can chicken- thats fun, use a small can of beer or cherry coke and pop it into the butt and BBQ sitting it up with lid on
i make home made koftas using beef mince, onions, garlic, cumin, salt, pepper, paprika and mix olive oil and mint and coat it before popping on BBQ
Also sweet potatos are delicious, pop some bacon on BBQ to crisp and mix with sour cream, cheese to make the filling

I can highly recommend charring pitta bread on the bbq. If you cut it into strips then serve with a home made hoummos as a starter, it is amazing. Takes on an entirely different flavour & is easy to feed a crowd.

I always do chicken and chorizo skewers! I love steak but can be costly if catering for everyone else! I’m a cheap sausage on a bbq lover personally.

I always do rice..,quite often the batchelors beef flavour packet rice and everyone always asks me what it is because they love it 😂
