I discovered a dead slug in the paddling pool this morning. I’ve got it out but i still feel icky about the DC going in it. Would you change the water?

Do your dc not pick up insects etc? Ds is always looking for a snail or a ladybird!
Shove some anti back Fairy in the pool and it will be fine!! Bubbly fun!

How many times do you think your kids have pee'd in it?

Bluesheep8 · 24/07/2019 13:51

No way would I even think about changing the water. I'd just fish it out and carry on as normal. Not something I would give any thought to, tbh

A dead slug having been in the water is not going to hurt them. Let them play and enjoy it, to empty it after only a day is still pretty wasteful. Silly to be squeamish about a single dead slug.

I truly hate slugs, I get them in my kitchen, but would not be bothered about one in an outside pool etc, I would just fish it out somehow, and sling it in the garden. Its such a shame, that slugs can't swim, and get out of the water, before you get uptight about them !

If you hadn't found the slug you would presumably have been quite happy to let your children play in the water today. Despite the number of animals/birds/insects who have probably visited it overnight, but that you didn't see. And that's before we factor in the germs brought in on the children's feet and them peeing in it.

When did everyone get so squeamish? What a ridiculous waste of water it would be to fill and empty paddling pools every day.

(Disclaimer - I'm hot and grumpy and jealous because we don't have a paddling pool)
