What time do you go home if you start at 9am? Put in 30mins lunch.

16:48 ?

Is it a maths quiz?

Taytotots · 23/07/2019 11:02

Assuming five day week? Well that's only 12 mins a day less than 37.5 hours. I'd go home at 5pm m-t and 4pm Friday Grin. Why are you asking?

Fantasmic143 · 23/07/2019 11:09

I try to start at 8:30am, leave at 4:30pm and either have a short lunch or work through. I then leave at 4:00pm on a Friday.

If I don't get in by 8:30am (tired / traffic) I adjust accordingly.

Very flexible working patterns here (civil service) - some start at 8, some at 10.

As long as you are doing your job, everyone is happy and there is no clock watching. SUCH a relief after teaching!

Plumpcious · 23/07/2019 11:10

4.48pm, assuming you are allowed to take just 30 minutes for lunch.

36.5 hours a week split evenly over 5 days is 7 hours and 18 minutes a day.

BrokenWing · 23/07/2019 11:11

@Taytotots m-t 9-5 is 30 hours (assuming 30 min lunch). Friday 9-4 you are only working 6.5 hours (assuming 30 min lunch), total 36.5hrs so you are getting an hour free (unless you get a shorter lunch)! Grin

Youngandfree · 23/07/2019 11:14

I start at 9 and get a half hour lunch...I leave at 3.15-3.30. I also get a 10 min morning break as I am a teacher (in Ireland)

EleanorOalike · 23/07/2019 11:17

On a similar contract but more hours, when I spoke through with HR they said I could finish early on a Friday. So my hours ended up being 8-4 Mon-Thursday and 8-3 on a Friday.

BarbaraofSeville · 23/07/2019 11:17

I suppose it depends on whether you have to do regular hours or can work flexitime to sometimes do a shorter day, either regularly or as and when you feel like it.

BrokenWing · 23/07/2019 11:17

Oh and I have a 35hr contract and work M-T 7-15:45 and Friday 7-12 (total minus 30 min lunches = 38hrs). Generally you find if you are salaried it is flexible with give and take for appointments/leaving early/popping out at lunch etc.
