Help! Which luxury candle??

clpsmum · 22/07/2019 22:34

I'm not a candle person but have been asked to buy a luxury one as a gift.

I've narrowed it down to
Jo molone
Milton brown
Arran aromatics

Which would you go for? Which would you prefer to receive?

Another vote for Diptyque, benjoin and tubereuse is gorgeous.

Byredo also have lovely candles

Triglesoffy · 22/07/2019 22:49

Neom!!

WanderingTrolley1 · 22/07/2019 22:49

Diptyque.

HeadintheiClouds · 22/07/2019 22:50

Diptyque.

EllenEyewater · 22/07/2019 22:50

I’ve been quite unimpressed by Jo Malone. They never seem to burn that evenly and the scent is nice for the first couple of burns but then seems to fade.

I like Diptyque and some of their special editions are in gorgeous holders. I also really like the White Company, but that might not be luxury enough.

DoraNora · 22/07/2019 22:51

Absolutely diptique. No contest. Baies or tuberose for a gift, as suggested by pp.

If your budget is bigger cire trudon make amazing candles too.

BobTheFishermansWife · 22/07/2019 22:53

Not sure it could be classed as luxury, but Woodwick are lovely, they crackle like a fire when burning and they smell lush! My livingroom feels much more homely when I've got one on the go.

Floris.
Best you can get.

AntsMarching · 22/07/2019 23:01

Owen Drew. Smell amazing and it lingers. I love all the candles I've had. Right now, I'm enjoying Montague.

JemPuddleduck001 · 22/07/2019 23:32

I used to love Jo Malone, but as previously said they don’t burn evenly anymore.

Also, The White Company’s candles are very good and in the grand scheme of “luxury candles” not that expensive, £20.

Molton Brown’s aren’t what they used to be and they have also hiked their prices up Hmm

I’d go for The White Company or Diptyque Smile

Tom Ford candles are bloody good too, but pricey.

sleepwhenidie · 22/07/2019 23:35

Diptyque Baies

PhysaliaPhysalis · 22/07/2019 23:41

Diptyque Tubereuse

FrancesHolmes · 22/07/2019 23:46

Cire Trudon. Personally I love Spiritus Sancti but it's not for everyone ( church incense) and probably better for winter.... but there are loads of others to choose from. Divine.

phenomenalcat · 23/07/2019 03:09

Diptyque and Jo Malone both use paraffin wax and so are not very good for your health. It is also a by product of the petroleum process.
Go for a soy/plant/beeswax based candle and it will be much better for the environment and health.
Neom candles use natural wax as do Jonathan Ward. Hope that helps.

Rituals have some lovely ones

Rhubarbisevil · 23/07/2019 06:48

Have you heard of Daylesford? You can buy their candles via Ocado. Very natural and they smell amazing. Cheaper than Jo Malone as well!

Mother87 · 23/07/2019 11:48

Tried Jo Malone/Diptyque/various posh ones... Always prefer the short fat ones from https://www.themeltco.com/ since I discovered them in a beautiful B&B once... I order them online regularly now. They'll also send samples/wax melts (always want to say Max WeltsGrin) so you can try all the flavours...

TrimYourWick · 23/07/2019 12:02

A lot of the smaller artisan brands do luxury candles
www.cocofour.com
www.cantocandle.com
www.soul.com

They all use soy wax
