What visual things bring you joy?

I was at an event today (trade show type thing) and on one stand was a huge HUGE bouquet of gorgeous flowers. You had to put your business card in for a chance to win them.

I won them!!

They're sitting on my coffee table and I'm not even watching TV, I just keep looking at these flowers and sighing because they're so beautiful. They're bringing me absolute joy just to look at them.

So, what visual things bring you joy??

We look out over a field and every day it looks different. We had our upstairs window widened so we could see it better!

Baby animals.

Well anything to do with nature really.

This has been such a lovely thread.

For me:-

My daughter’s face
The sea
The Angel of the North
Wildflowers
Lovely smooth pebbles
The glass you used to find on the beach that had been rubbed smooth. You just don’s see much anymore!

Staring at my baby boy and the ocean, then seeing his gleeful face as he stares at the ocean :)

Love this thread, thanks OP!

Watching dogs running free. I don’t have my own dog but seeing them in parks and fields makes my heart sing.

Fields of yellow rapeseed plants under a blue sky.

Looking up at the sky on a clear sky. The wonder of distant stars and a bright moon as well as the flashing lights of planes that make wonder where they are headed.

A line of clean washing strung across my garden

EssentialHummus · 24/07/2019 14:50

Little drops of water on the flowers and leaves in the garden first thing in the morning, and seeing how the cucumbers have climbed and wrapped themselves round a trellis overnight. Magic!

The seasons - anything that embodies them really. Spring from the first snowdrops and primroses to May's riot of buttercups, forget-me-nots, and campions; cow parsley and dragon flies under dappled sunshine in the summer; conkers and acorns and frosty leaves in the autumn; christmas lights and hoar frost with the smell of wood smoke and satsumas in the winter.

They some how tap into the unconscious 3-year old part of my brain that makes everything else stop whilst it goes "Ooooh, preeeeettty..." for a while.

My washing drying on the line on a warm, sunny and windy day

Yes yes to Angel of the North and Tyne Bridge. They make me feel all mushy inside. Running over Tyne bridge when I do Great North Run never fails to put a lump in my throat.

When my 4yr old Dd rolls her eyes 😆
When my two cats snuggle one another.
When my DH laughs until he cries, my heart could explode.
Finally, but just as important, the sight of Tiramisu. Dessert of the gods 🥰🥰🥰

Another vote for contented cats, especially in front gardens, enjoying the sunshine.

Rainbows. As a child I thought they were made up, until I saw one for real.

I used to love watching cars at busy sets of traffic lights, and studying their movements, especially if the lights respond to the cars: I did this even before I could drive. As a child I was fascinated that in a queue of cars, they move off one at a time, not all together as I might have expected. More recently I once had a long wait at Poole station on a summer evening, so I passed the time on the footbridge, where there was a good view of a nearby road junction.

When DH and I wrap the Christmas presents, which we usually do in one afternoon: I enjoy the view of the rolls of paper, the pile of tags, and the growing pile of wrapped presents. My DH wraps my presents last, while I'm still in the room; just before this happens, I am instructed to "have a last look at everyone else's presents", before I am blindfolded, and he brings mine in to wrap them. Wink

@Tavannach Out of interest, why toddler trainers? Is it the shoes themselves, or the children who are wearing them that you like to see, or both?

DixieLandReject · 24/07/2019 21:43

My 1970s/80s style drinks trolley

Tavannach · 25/07/2019 02:32

@wanderings

It's the actual shoes themselves. They just look so cute.

crazycurry · 25/07/2019 03:09

My sons asleep

BertieBotts · 25/07/2019 07:50

Ohh yes cats :)

And autumn mist, especially in the mountains.

What somebody else said as well about grey stormy skies but trees with sunlight on them - I love that.

I like things being arranged in rainbow order - e.g. clothing or book spines.
