Do school offices completely shut down over summer?

DC starts primary in Sept. School are being really slow with confirming after school club bookings for Autumn term. They keep saying they'll be able to confirm in 'a few days'. Last time they said this was last week.

I'm worried whether I'll actually find out before term starts if they close over summer.

Mine does. I know of some who will be in. Entirely up to the headteacher

Many primaries do. But if they’ve just broken up the office staff may be in finishing off the moving up of year 6 pupils. It’s worth emailing and giving a call. Today asking for either a call back or the answer.

Thank you. I emailed this morning. Surely they can't close down without letting people know whether they have club places or not? We need time to sort alternatives if we've not got the spots we requested (what I'm dreading and hoping isn't the case!).

I'll call tomorrow morning if I've still not heard.

Is this a club run by school or an external body? Is it on the first week of term..my old school it didn’t start straight away. If you call up the answer phone should tell you if whether they are in or not. Also is your little one starting reception? Are they doing phased starts so not doing full days the first week which is very common. If that’s the case they won’t be worried about after school club as you’ll be expected to collect at lunchtime.
