Suggestions for euro break over Oct half term

Haven't travelled for ages - looking for a city break over October half term? Where is most bangs for buck these days? 4 kids all 12 + interested in doing stuff and walking rather than beach type hols

I'd go to Rome. Plenty to do, they can walk miles. Take the train out to Ostia Antica. The temperature should be pleasant too.
