Anyone made a scarecrow? Tips needed please!

Wasn't sure exactly where to oust this so sorry if it's not the right place...
So this September our village is hosting a scarecrow festival for the first time.
The neighbouring village hosts one each year with a theme and the standard is amazing so I'd like ours to look half decent.
I'm keen to get involved with the DC and have lots of ideas from googling - mainly characters e.g Paddington Bear. Have absolutely no idea where to start though as all of the guides I've found are how to make a traditional one from a wooden cross stuffed with straw.
If you've made a non traditional one before, how did you make the body shape? If you used paper mache then what did you use as the basic structure?
Any tips appreciated Smile Thanks!

Take and old pair of pyjamas. Sew up the jacket and trouser fly then sew jacket to trousers. Tie the ends of the arms and legs up with string (let is show, it looks "rustic") then stuff with straw. I used a burst football on a stick as a head. The straw was the expensive bit!

A picture of Boris Johnson should be available, though maybe a scarecrow is neater.

@ForalltheSaints I like the Boris idea! Grin

Thanks @RodGallowglass I'll definitely give that a go.

Once you have the basic shape of a scarecrow think of someone topical and dress them up in that character. I've seen some good Kylie minogue and kim Kardashian cries over the years but Trump is popular at festivals and so are characters from GoT.
