I'm gonna need a link to a news story to believe that!

Furiosa - I think she may be teasing us. That is surely a parody of an over-the-top tabloid-style scare story.

More googling (Sunday Times) says they are not a public health hazard and no more dangerous than wasps. Of course any bite can get infected, as can any wound, but that doesn't make the thing that caused the bite or wound inherently dangerous.

Adults getting dramatic about spiders isn't cute or funny- its pathetic.

I find Raid works best.

Just put it outside. They are harmless. The media has whipped a frenzy up because of the common name. It's no relation to black widow other than it's a spider. The bites you see and hear about are allergic reactions to bee stings or mosquito bites look at the symptoms. The spider is not aggressive and will pop itself and run away as it's what they are programmed to do. They will only bite if you are crushing them against your skin so like physically holding it so it's fangs are pressed against your skin then squash it... It's very unlikely. Only 3 recorded bites have ever been documented in 30 years across all of Europe.

So stop reading the drivel the media puts out. And put it outside.

Ineedaknittedhat is being satirical obviously!

thecatneuterer · 22/07/2019 10:48

Yes, I think we had worked that out!
