I JUST CANNOT SLEEP

@LividLaughLove I remember the feeling well. I was terrified for my whole pregnancy, barely slept and it was not fun at all. Even long after we were past my previous loss points and the first and second trimesters. It was hell. She arrived t weeks early in the end and it was such a relief that it was finally all over. Progesterone made me an insomniac too.

Brenna24 · 21/07/2019 04:57

Thanks @sassh. I will have a hot chocolate if that's ok.

sashh · 21/07/2019 04:59

Brenna it's suchard hot chocolate which I have found is really nice with a slug of vanilla vodka.

southernbelles · 21/07/2019 05:05

Have been awake since 3.20 & my 2yo will be awake within the next half hour I expect. Long day for me I think! I very rarely drink coffee but think I will need it this morning!

LiveFatsDieYoGnu · 21/07/2019 05:14

Been awake since 4 with pregnancy nausea. Just threw up so hoping to snooze in the brief window where the nausea is less Confused roll on second trimester...

ElphabaTheGreen · 21/07/2019 05:18

Also wide awake since 4am - probably before, but 4am was the first time I checked the time. I’m usually awake at shit o’clock (chronically awful sleeper), but my excuse today isn’t too bad. I’m on a post-Reception one-to-one overnight city break with my almost-five year old. DH and I had done similar with our eldest a few times and I realised DS2 had never had the chance so I’m treating him, which means a night in a hotel bed (I never sleep well out of my own bed) with a snoring child next to me. The positive is he’s absolutely made up - he’s loving the solo time with me, he’s out of the shadow of his scarily clever and energetic big brother (he’s not really either of those things, bless him) and sleeping in a bed all night with mummy is his absolute highlight. I’m feeling a bit sticky as he has spent most of the night taking full advantage by plastering up against me, but I am having to resist the urge to kiss him all over his little sleeping face, which will wake him for the day at this stage. Just lying here MNing and enjoying the little soft hand sitting on my shoulder...

Mybobowler · 21/07/2019 05:19

Can I join? My 6 month old is refusing to be put down. She's fallen asleep on my boob after 40 minutes if inconsolable screaming, and my ears are ringing. I'm in the armchair in her cosy bedroom, listening to the birds and trying to stay awake. Too nervous to attempt putting her back in her cot. Good luck to those of you nearing your due date. And hugs to the anxious, worrying ones - I've been there, and those sleepless nights can feel endless.

ElphabaTheGreen · 21/07/2019 05:20

Fuck, I missed the coffee round. I’ve just had a Premier Inn instant. I’d have waited if I’d known decent stuff was being offered by sassh.

HarryBlackberry1 · 21/07/2019 05:21

Been awake all night. Came to stay in a lovely little cottage in Yorkshire for the week yesterday, but the bed is so uncomfortable and sunken I could cry. My back is throbbing.

Brenna24 · 21/07/2019 05:26

@sassh. Yum yum. Thanks.

Baby settled for a bit but I was wide awake by then. Then I got sleepy, needed a wee and got up for that first. That woke the sodding (not even mine - my brother is on holiday and we have his cat) cat who is now yowling the place down and that disturbed the baby who is now feeding again. Sigh

sashh · 21/07/2019 05:26

I now want to order a piggy's for you all (local cafe that delivers breakfast)

Sabich · 21/07/2019 05:29

It's a shame we don't have a teletransporter and could convene in our dressing gowns for delicious hot drinks etc then nip back to where we are Grin

MsMustDoBetter · 21/07/2019 05:31

I've been awake since 4am. Do I just forget it and get up?

I don't know whether to be productive and walk the dog, do some laundry or to try and get some more sleep.

Sabich · 21/07/2019 05:36

Have you got enough time to put a wash on, walk dog then go and rest a bit more? I put the light on when I got up but switched it off 10 mins ago as it's light outside now

Isadora2007 · 21/07/2019 05:37

Stupid hubby dreamt he smelt baking so got up at 3am and put the light on to go
Downstairs. I’ve been awake ever since.
I’ve spent a fortune on amazon on shit I don’t need and ordered a bed off eBay... and can’t get back to sleeeeeeeep!!!

Sabich · 21/07/2019 05:40

Oooh what did you buy on Amazon? You're giving me ideas. Sounds like a productive early morning to me!

LividLaughLove · 21/07/2019 06:01

@ElphabaTheGreen that is the sweetest thing to do for your little boy, and I know I’m hormonal but your description of him snuggling with mummy just made me 😭.

maras2 · 21/07/2019 06:07

It's our 44th anniversary and I'm watching DH sleep.
He was critically ill a couple of years ago though fully recovered now.
I made a Faustian type pact that if he lived I'd never moan about his snoring again. Halo
He did and I didn't hence the bugger snoring like a snorey thing and me just watching him and not caring less about the noise.
I'll put the kettle on for all of us awake Brew

Namechangedtoprotect · 21/07/2019 06:08

I was awake at 5 again. I'm hoping I can reset my sleep clock over the holidays. Thinking about going to get a cuppa and take it back to bed.

ElphabaTheGreen · 21/07/2019 06:26

LividLaughLove I just love 1:1 mini-breaks with my DSs. Everything crossed that you’ll get to do the same one day.

He woke up just after 6 and told me that he had a dream about dancing and that school had turned into an ice lolly and melted in the sun. We then had a little chat about what he’s going to eat for breakfast (it’s a Premier Inn - he plans on All Of It, but mainly bagels and jam) and a read of The Twits. He’s finished his wee now so mum duties are go.

Have a good day all Brew

StripeyChina · 21/07/2019 06:33

Wide awake too, since about 4am.

Have chance for cheap accom in London for 1 week
(my two ASD kids will be looked after by their Father for the first time in a year and i could do with the respite)
Do I DO it??? (I know no one and have mobility probs but its v tempting)

LeslieYep · 21/07/2019 07:05

I realise it's after 7 and it's a perfectly acceptable time to be awake, but I have a 3 week old so I've seen a few hours of the night!

Love the idea of the one on one holiday stay and will tuck that away for when I'm eventually dealing with school age DD's :)

Also, go! Go to London!! You don't need to know anyone, plus most are very friendly. The best bit of traveling alone is only having yourself to please!

sashh · 21/07/2019 07:24

Another vote for go to London.

woodhill · 21/07/2019 07:26

I woke at 0630 - too early. Cup of tea, bed and mumsnet

StripeyChina · 21/07/2019 07:27

Ok :)

(its student accom in Earls Ct - will that be safe? - wibble)
