Booking in on line - question

Returning home from holiday today. Before we left I had an email from Thomas Cook saying we could check in on line 24 hours before our outward flight but had to print off our boarding passes. Not had a similar email in relation to booking in on line for our return flight.

We've paid for specific seats so I'm assuming there's no need for us to check in until we get to the airport and they're not likely to give our seats away. 🤞Does that sound right?

They will charge you if they have to print off your boarding passes I think

I thought that usually when you check in before your holiday it does both outward and return together.

I don't think so? We've now checked in on line and downloaded our boarding passes to be scanned at the airport.
