Lake Garda honeymoon - your recommendations please!

Where around Lake Garda would be the best place to spend 5 nights, or thereabouts, of a honeymoon (next August)?

Budget around £1000ish?

It's a part of Italy I don't know at all so I need the wisdom of MN to help me pick somewhere lovely. Ideally with a pool, wonderful lake views and walking distance (we probably won't bother with a car) to a town with lots of good restaurants nearby.

Any suggestions happily received!

Do a trip into the Dolomites if you get the chance, stunning scenery .

We had our honeymoon in Bardolino 7 years ago. Hotel Villa Letizia which was lovely - great breakfast!

We've stayed at the Hotel Caesius Thermae Spa in Bardolino and the Hotel Kristal Palace in Riva del Garda. Both are a little out of town, but a very pleasant walk by the lake to get to the town centres. The Kristal Palace does have the advantage of being very close to the Gelateria Flora with its tasty Argos catalogue (in my DH's words!) of fabulous ice cream sundaes!

Both have pools - the Hotel Caesius has outdoor pools as well as an indoor thermal spa and the Kristal Palace has a roof-top pool.

Food at both was excellent and I'd definitely recommend them.

We've visited Malcesine and there's a castle to visit, and you can take the cable car up Monte Baldo for walks and a fab view of the lake. It is a bit hilly, but it also seemed pretty compact and easy to walk around in that sense.

Wherever you decide, I'm sure you'll have a fabulous honeymoon - Lake Garda is a beautiful place.
