Early pregnancy - what excuses did you use for not drinking?

I’ve found out I’m pregnant which is lovely but a little unexpected (we thought it would take ages and conceived on the first go....!) and as such have loads of social commitments over the next few months

What excuses did you use for not drinking?

I said either I was trying to lose weight and alcohol is loaded with calories, the driving excuse or because I love G&T, I ordered just a T and nobody knew with all the ice and lemon or whatever in it.

I'm a social butterfly, but, typically enough had a couple of social engagements in my first few weeks.

The first I took a glass of wine, had a sip, then swapped with DP when he'd almost drained his so it looked like he'd gone for a top-up and I'd just had the one.

Another couple of times I had a very small amount in a glass and watered it down.

Once I knew implantation had happened I just stuck to soft drinks. My friend guessed, but she knew we'd been trying anyway. Her husband, who also knew, obviously didn't put two and two together and was just confused when I kept turning down his offers of alcohol.

DP's cutting out alcohol with me, so I'll just use him as an excuse and say I'm keeping him company!
