Haven’t thought about him in years, but just replayed some of his songs on YouTube.

He had a very clever way with words.

Wikipedia tells me he also could-wrote The Living Years which is one of the few songs that make me actually cry.

Yep - he was a prolific songwriter and supporter of my football club. I met him a few times at matches, he's very lovely. My ex told me who he was because I had no clue!

I didn’t know that about Living Years, such a good song

I loved Swap Shop! It was the highlight of the week. I had a deprived childhood!

He did a really duff Scotland football song with John Gordon Sinclair.

I remember him popping up on a lot of telly in Scotland in my early teens in a "here's BA Robertson, he's super famous" type of way and I was never sure who he was, and what he was famous for.

BA Robertson wrote The Living Years which was a massive hit for Mike & The Mechanics in the late 80's.

Bang Bang was initially banned by the BBC due to the suggestive title /lyrics. He also wrote I knocked it off - a song seemingly about football.

The Living Years was about the relationship between him & his dad.

He did the Win an Award song for swap shop. Got that going round in my head now!

I really liked him! Brought a smile to my face on a wet, soggy Friday lunchtime when I have to go out and I have no coat......!!!
