My dd is going into year 3 on September. She needs a bag now as book bags are only for year 2 and younger.

What are the 'in' brands at the moment please

Branded bags for year 3??

Honestly don’t bother, they don’t care.

Smiggle

Please consider a Madlug bag. They are a small social enterprise that support children in the Care system. For every bag purchased, they donate one to a child in care so they can carry their belongings with dignity instead of in a bin liner. We have 3 bags. DD (7) used one all year for her school bag and it’s the first time I haven’t had to replace one mid year. Washes up nicely in the washing machine too.

Smiggle, and they are actually very hard wearing and nice and 'roomy'

saladf1ngers · 18/07/2019 22:43

Those mad lug bags are lovely!

got dd going into year 3 a cath kidston.

georgialondon · 18/07/2019 22:46

For that age, I was going to say Smiggle too.

stucknoue · 18/07/2019 22:49

Dakine last years, I wouldn't get into brands so young, you can't stop it once that starts

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 18/07/2019 22:49

I’ll second a Madlug. Dh uses one for work & he loves it. The dc pinch it on school trip days Grin

I'd check for any restrictions at your school. Our year 3/4's loved smiggle but they ended up banning them as they're quite big

MrsBungle · 18/07/2019 23:27

Smuggle. My daughter has had her school bag for the past 3 years and it’s still going strong.

FrothAndBubble · 19/07/2019 14:15

Thanks for the Madlug recommendation. Not heard of them before. Great idea. Just about to order one for DD for school and a tech one for DH for work.

winterisstillcoming · 19/07/2019 15:39

Id recommend to get a reasonably waterproof one with a water Bottle pocket on the side.

Ember12 · 19/07/2019 15:42

I'd just let her choose her own. Not many 7 year olds care about brands
