Do you have a 3/4yo and Alexa?

Just got an Echo yesterday (a steal - thanks Amazon Prime day).

My 4yo just keeps asking her to sing twinkle twinkle, you're welcome, be our guest and happy birthday every bloody second of the past 24 hours. Driving me mental!

I know it can control the tv and create shopping lists and set timers and tell me the weather etc etc.

But is there anything good to entertain my kid bar the bloody annoying stuff above?

She's been asking Alexa a few questions but the answers are soooo wordy (completely get that this is good for an adult asking how far away the moon is etc but my 4yo zones out). The jokes go over her head.

I've looked into a few things but they all seem to suit an older kid. Does anybody have any fave Alexa things for preschoolers?

There's a CBeebies skill that has stories and songs, also Amazon storytime which has lots of stories but it's very American. You can ask it to play Simon Says and musical statues too

Simon says and musical statues are right up her street! Exactly what I was looking for Grin thank you.

It can tell jokes but they go over my daughter's head.

It can miaow like a cat. She loves this.

The novelty definitely has not worn off on our house... 4 year old asking for Moana soundtrack & songs by Kiss (don’t ask!) constantly and 6 year old got Alexa to make some pretty gross farting sounds this week! My only tip is you can press the button on top so Alexa can’t hear the ridiculous requests anymore (or as my kids say “Alexa is cross, she’s gone red & not listening to us”) Good luck!!

darlingtwinklebum · 18/07/2019 22:00

It can play musical statues Grin that's quite popular in our house currently

I have a 3 year old DD and the novelty has worn off here too, she asks it to play music, or does the musical statues thing as posted above, but she’s an only child so the novelty wore off quickly when she realised she’d always win.

Blankiefan · 18/07/2019 22:48

She can make fart noises...

Phnar...

Amuses a 50 year old and a 43 year old in this house.

Mine has become absolutely obsessed with the weather, thanks to asking Alexa every morning "what's the weather like today" and "will it rain" Grin

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 18/07/2019 23:19

Another 3 year old here who’s obsessed with talking to Alexa about the weather.. Confused

Kpo58 · 18/07/2019 23:22

Make sure that you have turned off the voice purchasing options on Alexa. You don't want random packages turning up at your door!

Onesailwait · 19/07/2019 01:01

I feel your pain, if I hear Hey Google make a fart sound one more time my head May explode!
