Why do people cry ‘envy’ so often on here?

Disagree with holiday homes? Oh you are just jealous that you don’t have one.

Question the logic of buying a teenager an expensive car? Just envious that you don’t have that kind of money.

Think Audi drivers are twats. That’s just because you can’t afford one.

Nope. Not jealous.

But why do so many people say that because you disagree with them that you must just be envious.

It’s weird how a different opinion automatically means you must be jealous.

I can see the arguments against holiday homes but my parents have one that I can use whenever I want so I’m not sure how I can be jealous.

People cry jealousy on here much more than they do envy

It’s either a lazy reaction or it’s pretty true in some cases

JetPropelledWindbag · 18/07/2019 22:32

Because why would you care otherwise? Why give it headspace?
People buying 2nd homes / cars for their teenagers etc - why is it anyone’s business but theirs?

BookBookBook · 18/07/2019 22:50

Because it’s an easy, lazy way of attempting to invalidate someone’s argument. Have a rooted objection to a monarchy on the grounds that it’s an embarrassing anachronism in a supposed democracy in 2019? You’re jealous of Kate Cambridge’s hats/coat dresses/fleet of nannies!

I do think when people say things like audi/bmw drivers are twats its jealousy because I cant think of another reason why someone would label every driver who they havent met the same.
Infact thinking about it any twatty drivers I have had experience of recently were all in old average cars..
I just blame the person as the car doesnt make them do it. 🙈

PinkFlowerFairy · 18/07/2019 23:07

The audi drivers I know all are a bit twatish and showoffish. I dont know all audi drivers that exist though!

Certainly not jealousy though 🤣

Windbag - Why would anybody give the morality of holiday homes headspace unless they were jealous? They effect whole communities, push house prices up, push young people out of their areas, result in school closures and the erosion of communities. It's probably a good idea to give them a bit of headspace and at least consider where you stand on them and whether you think policies should be created to try and reduce the number of them. It's worth thinking about most things that effect life not just things that make you jealous. Don't you think about anything unless it makes you jealous?

Havingarethink · 19/07/2019 04:48

To shut people down and it's the same with the grammar police, if you hold abhorrent views and can't spell you are fair game.

I can’t ever remember the difference between envy and jealousy. Blush
