iPhone question-how to only have phone making noise with incoming calls?

I need to be able to hear my phone ring tonight if I’m needed but don’t want noise from email etc. Iv been on the do not disturb but it says silent on calls? Any ideas??

Go into settings, then individually disable notifications on each app.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 18/07/2019 20:32

Yes you have to go in to the settings for each app and adjust the notification options.

ISeeDeadDandelions · 18/07/2019 20:34

If you go into the do not disturb there is an option to allow calls from nobody, your favourites list, or from everyone. That will silence everything but phone calls.

Inbedbynine · 18/07/2019 20:42

On the do not disturb it says : when do not disturb is enabled calls and notifications will be silent?

I was hoping there was a simple switch and then when I wake up switch back to what it was without individually changing the apps?

Set whatever number needs to be able to get through to you as a favourite, then go to "do not disturb" - turn it on, then scroll down and select "allow calls from favourites only".

Then in the morning, switch off "do not disturb" and everything will go back to normal Smile

It’s school so I don’t know the number. One of dc is on residential and I’m not convinced he will sleep and I will have to go get him... they said they will call me if I need to get him so I can’t chose one number?

Hopefully he’s had such a great day he’ll sleep like a log.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 18/07/2019 21:32

So allow ‘from everyone’. If they call twice within three minutes it overrides it too.

Thank you!

Hopefully he had a nice sleep and is having a great time with his friends.

Does the iOS Do Not Disturb not have the option to set a "downtime" where you can choose a time slot where the ringer is off ? (And you can set it to allow priority callers through) ?

caughtinanet · 19/07/2019 10:00

That all sounds very complicated, on my android phone I can set up which things I want notifications from in about 2 seconds from the home screen.

I know that's of no help to you at all but a small win for andriod Smile

Hopefully you weren't called.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 19/07/2019 10:23

Yes it does @SerendipityJane
