Because they fecking LOVE me.

Out for a lovely walk in the country today and one landed on my hand. I have prominent veins and he latched on for a good long drink. I’m now sorting a huge bruised hand. Sad

Don’t know if it comes through in a photo but it’s SORE!!

Currently on holiday, used 50% deet religiously and have 200+ bites. I look like I have smallpox.

MissisBee · 18/07/2019 21:21

I'm currently sporting 13 bites on one leg from midges at the weekend. Once, in France, ended up with over 20 at once. Deet does seem to work - spent a month in the tropics, applied it religiously twice a day and didn't get one bite

Peanutbuttericecream · 18/07/2019 21:58

I’m A negative and they bloody love me. 🤬

polkadotpixie · 18/07/2019 21:58

I've never been bitten by anything. My husband is the mosquito buffet

However when I was pregnant last year I got bitten to death. I blamed his dna in my blood 😂

Teacakeandalatte · 18/07/2019 22:02

My dd is a favourite with the mozzies she got bitten hundreds of times on a sleepover last year while her friends were hardly bitten at all.

CMOTDibbler · 18/07/2019 22:11

Oh yes. I've been working in Texas this week, and was getting bitten by the mosquitos who came inside the conference centre to bite me. And then I had to go to the pharmacy to get antibiotic ointment as taking antihistamines and using bite cream didn't stop one bite spreading right across my knee.

mononokeswolf · 18/07/2019 22:41

A- and loved by bastard bitey things. Can't think of anything that has successfully repelled them.

MollyWindley · 18/07/2019 22:52

A- and I am very very attractive to mozzies and unfortunately for me Blandford flies which are an unusual local speciality

TheSheepofWallSt · 18/07/2019 22:55

DS and I are currently both sporting a dozen bites each. The pond in our garden has bred a midge colony and some have taken up residence in our bedrooms. Can’t get rid of them so we’re currently dressing in long sleeves and tight leggings for bed to reduce skin available to them. I’ve literally never known this to happen at home (Yorkshire) and am particularly offended by the whole thing. Envy (not envy)

MavisEnderby74 · 18/07/2019 23:00

A+, they love me and I’m allergic to them. Didn’t get bitten at all though when pregnant nor breastfeeding, but it’s a drastic solution...

DrFoxtrot · 18/07/2019 23:14

I'm A+ and very rarely get bitten. My eldest DD is the same, my younger two DC seem to attract all the bites!

ilovewelshrarebit123 · 18/07/2019 23:19

I usually get eaten alive! I went to Turkey in May and used Avon skin so soft dry oil spray didn't get one bite.

Smells lovely to and is only £3.50 Smile needs to be original spray though.

youaremysunshine · 18/07/2019 23:21

I've been bitten 4 times on one leg twice on the other and once on my arm this afternoon by horse flys!

AdaColeman · 18/07/2019 23:28

I was reading recently that mozzies are attracted to beer drinkers, and wondered if that was the reason that Ex was always bitten so badly, when I escaped them.

drsausage · 19/07/2019 02:39

Where I live everyone gets bitten. We have Equal Opportunity Mosquitoes here. The mosquito is actually the state bird.

VetOnCall · 19/07/2019 03:22

Oh me. I'm in Alberta, Canada and the mozzies here are savage and they absolutely love me. We spend a lot of time outdoors hiking and camping so I'm pretty much constantly trying not to scratch various bites. I took the dogs to the river one afternoon last week and stupidly forgot to DEET myself beforehand. I got eaten alive, I was itching for 2 days afterwards. I've travelled extensively in Africa, Latin America and Asia but the mosquitoes here are the worst, and they're huge too - you really feel the bites. Fuckers, I loathe them!

I don't know what blood group I am. I never drink beer though so don't fit that theory 😄

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/07/2019 03:30

I'm coming on to win the thread. They love me, and I get golf ball sized lumps, and they tried to kill me. Hospitalized for a tropical disease. Could have died.

GiggleMcDimples · 19/07/2019 03:35

I'm allergic to mozzie bites, I get massive hard lumps around the bite. They're huge, at least tennis ball circumference sized for every single one. I have to have cortisone cream and oral antihistamines.

Whothefuck · 19/07/2019 10:43

Gosh - some real sufferers here.
MrsTP that’s a thread winner alright!

My hand is bruised today where the vein leaked blood into it. No swelling left though which is good.

Been the mozzie magnet for 40 years...until the year I had a full body St Tropez spray tan. Not one!

Peanutbuttericecream · 19/07/2019 12:02

Avon Skin So Soft only works if there aren't any mozzies.

AnnPerkins · 22/07/2019 20:56

Avon SSS definitely works for me.

If I forget to spray it and do get bitten I put a hot teaspoon on the bite which takes away the itch.
