Hairy hooha

Now I don't mind a bit o fluff down below, but Jesus! I have a bikini line that is attempting an assault on my knees. I need help!

I've got a couple of holidays coming up in the next few weeks, one is with my fooking gorgeous cousin, who is tall, glamorous and just seemingly hairless!

So how do I do this? My short hairy legs and stubbly armpits I can shave daily, no problem. But my bikini line? I have tried shaving - good for two days then agony! The regrowth!! Pimples, rash, ingrown hairs, the works. Veet cream had a similar result, all good and silky smooth at first, then rash-central. Waxing a no-no. My pain threshold is zero.

I have in the past worn boyleg swimsuits to hide the offending fluff (or the resulting rash), but everyone know what I'm trying to hide. Surely surely there is something I can do, so that I'llbe able to wear a sexy swimsuit on my hols?

Any ideas Mumsnutters?

I used to care about shaving the regrowth off but since I developed a csection pouch its less noticable so I don't bother.

You could probably get the same effect with 200 hamburgers and loads of chocolate. easily achievable in a couple of weeks.

gokartdillydilly · 18/07/2019 12:12

Thank you so much everyone. I'm going to look into all the options (perhaps not the burgers Grin). I definitely wouldn't just let it all hang out, that is not me at all, because I do care about what other people think, and I wouldn't want to inflict it on anyone!!

What about getting a vintage-style swimsuit that covers your bikini line, like this one?

....try going with the grain, rather than against

Flipping heck! I don’t think OP needs a bloody combine harvester.

mimibunz · 18/07/2019 14:03

Not intending to be nasty but we see these pubic hair threads every other week. They trigger my anxiety. Grin

TruthOnTrial · 18/07/2019 14:17

because I do care about what other people think, and I wouldn't want to inflict it on anyone

You talk like its a public pubic offence! Grin

Its not about keeping others sweet, and being nice for fear of offending! You wont offend a single person, and anyone who would be offended by seeing female body hair is worth ignoring (especially if its a hairy male! Grin )

Trip the top, pluck the sides?

Google your local Halawa salon. It’s like a sugar wax, and it doesn’t stick to the skin - just the hair. It’s made with basic ingredients, not chemicals, and for a lot of people it does seem to lessen irritation. I find blends that have more citrus do still sting, but that’s still an improvement for me. It works on all areas, as in a Hollywood style, but you can ask for less if that’s better for you.

HazelBite · 18/07/2019 15:29

I cannot use creams or shave with a coventional razor as I get the most horrendous rash, but I bought one of those battery operated trimmers (Veet) I had seen advertised on TV. It is very effective and trims the hair very short, (but not as short as a wet shave) but you can't see whats left of the hair unless you got up really, really close with a magnifying glass!
A lot less painful and quite effective.

gokartdillydilly · 18/07/2019 19:04

@Hazelbite
This sounds like the remedy for me. Thank you! I'm going to Boots tomorrow to try it.

@mimibunz I haven't seen any previous posts though, hence my question. Move on, if you're offended/anxious

@truthontrial I am offended by it! It's horrible! Public offence Shock lol

Phillips lumea home IPL is amazing. I used to have regrowth the next day really thick and fast but now it's a week - 2weeks before I see any regrowth at all and its at least 70% for sparse and think - used to be jet black. However you need about 6 weeks to see the results but good for long term x

Msgiggles30 · 18/07/2019 19:45

*more sparse and less thick!

Charley50 · 18/07/2019 19:49

I just trim it first then shave what's left with a 'men's' razor - I leave a triangle. Then do it every day that I want it shaved. It's easy and I'm pretty hairy!

I mixed Veet with shaving once. The rash wasn't pretty.

gotmychocolateimgood · 18/07/2019 19:55

Too late for this year but my lumea IPL machine has changed my life. Almost completely hair free now with shaving every 2 weeks only.
I am looking forward to getting up in the morning on holiday and getting dressed without faffing about shaving every bloody day!
In your position OP I woukd go to a very good beautician and get a hot wax. And also buy some board shorts as a backup in case you get a rash.
Enjoy your holiday!

Fuzzywig · 18/07/2019 20:01

Tankini?

Electrolysis is painfree and works well.

Knittedjimmychoos · 18/07/2019 20:20

Op on the biggest baby there is when comes to waxing but good hot wax will be amazing. Esp if done in smaller sections. Hot wax not wax strops.

thetimekeeper · 18/07/2019 20:56

I do not get the idea of "everyone will know what I'm trying to hide if I wear shorts"... How is that different to the purpose of any item of clothing? Do you worry people will realise you have breasts if you don't go topless?

I also don't see how it's any better or worse than people realising that somebody wearing a teeny tiny bikini has decided to rip out or shave off their hair. it could be said that these hypothetical judgemental people are just as likely to raise eyebrows over that.

Personally, if I saw someone wearing board shorts or tankini shorts I would just assume that's the style they liked! If I even paused to think about it. I am not in the habit of pondering how hairy people are underneath their clothes! Are you? Confused

GaraMedouar · 18/07/2019 21:03

I always wear a tankini and board shorts. I like to be comfortable.

Likethebattle · 18/07/2019 21:05

Make sure it’s a hot wax that they pull off and not one where they apply strips on top of the wax. It stings for a minute I promise and take a painkiller about an hour before. I’ve had s Hollywood and jings that was labour intensive and not fun but bearable and I felt really fresh in the hot weather.

imsorryiasked · 18/07/2019 21:16

You want something line this OP, no-one well ever know 😁
Seriously though, I'm saving up for a lumea as I have the same issues.

Hairy hooha
MiniMum97 · 18/07/2019 21:55

I have mine sugared. It much gentler on the skin. Less painful and my skin doesn't react afterwards like with waxing.

If you wax or sugar regularly it gets less painful and you do get used to it.

If the hair is long trim it (not too short obvs). If the hair is long it's super painful.
