I've just booked the holiday from hell

DH and I thought we'd try out being spontaneous and booked a last min hol for us and the kids for week after next. Had 4 out of 5 on trip advisor so - without reading the reviews - thought we'd be safe. After booking decided to read reviews to get me further excited about holiday. I find out it's opposite a building site, the walls are paper thin so no sleep, it's been rife with a sickness bug and there are jellyfish in the sea. I don't know how, but someone please help Sad

People are so picky on trip advisor

I’m sure complaining about stomach bugs sweeping the hotel isn’t being picky.

There were loads of jelly fish when I went to Ibiza and not the party side, but the actual guff people sat on TA is hilarious, most of it is them Cos they don’t realise what self altering means, or that kids make noise, or people have fun!

Don't worry, I stayed in a place with loads of 1&2* reviews that was amazing, people seem to expect the ritz for travelodge prices! The building site is more worrying but there was one opposite out hotel in Sicily and never saw a single builder, apparently it was too hot to work! Enjoy yourselves, it will be fine

My money is on Cyprus. There have been reports of jellyfish in the sea on the east coast.

I don't think the cooling off period applies to holiday bookings.

There are jellyfish in the sea in most places. I scuba dive and have seen jellyfish in the sea off Scotland, Isle of Man, Yorkshire, English Channel and around Malta, where we had to swim through a shoal of thousands of the buggers, thankfully a non stinging variety, Balearics and probably the Canaries. Can't remember if there were any in Egypt, but I'm sure they were.

If it is Cyprus I would just hire a car and get out and about. The building work is a bit ugly in parts of Ayia Napa but the beaches that were effected by jellyfish there are the really crowded ones anyway. I have been on the beach and in the sea in the Larnaca area recently and it's been fine.

There’s a two week ‘cooling off period’ by law where you can cancel?

Can you link to that law please?

Effendi · 17/07/2019 15:25

There is no cooling off period for holiday bookings.
