Hi, I'm 18 weeks pregnant today and have noticed my bump has gone down to about the size it was at 14 weeks, is this normal? Has anyone else had this and also the movements I'm not feeling every day. Just makes me a little concerned

You need to see your gp and have heartbeat checked etc

It could be that the baby is in a different position.

With my son I didn’t have a huge bump.

IME at 14 weeks and earlier you are all bloat, then the bloat gradually goes down, there is then a delay until you "pop"

Most people don't look pregnant until much later on, it's usually easy to hide pre 20 weeks.

I wouldn't be worried personally as long as you have had no pain or bleeding.

Also, if you are worried ring your midwife - your GP is unlikely to be interested as all your care should be via the community midwives. You should have contact info in your notes.

I reckon the first trimester bloat has disappeared or the baby is in a different position. Wouldn’t be overly concerned.

I concur, the bloat has subsided is all. But do see a midwife just to put your mind at rest.

I could have written exactly the same post and was actually about to. I'm 17 weeks and have noticed my bump is a lot smaller now than it was a couple of weeks ago. I'm also barely feeling any movements, this is my second pregnancy but I have an anterior placenta this time round.

Is this your first pregnancy? I remember with my daughter I barely looked pregnant until after the 20 week scan although I had been wearing maternity clothes for comfort.

I think it is normal to look smaller at this stage as the bloat will have gone by now but as pp have said if you are worried ring your midwife.

Bam123 · 16/07/2019 13:38

I'm pretty much exactly the same as you, second pregnancy and with my first I didn't pop until easily gone 20 weeks at least. Just strange how the bump was there and now if barely showing, not sure if it would of been bloating due to the fact that it was a very distinctive small bump that was firm to touch, I also didnt feel bloated. As for the movements I won't feel anything all day and panic then I might feel a nudge or fluttery movement then ages without movement again. Not sure how often I should be feeling baby move or if this is normal for 18 weeks. I've had an awful lot of anxiety with this pregnancy, not that I've had any high risks or anything. I thought the anxiety and panic would disappear after my 12 week scan 😣

I know how you feel. I keep thinking I've done this before it should be easy by now, but it's not. Everything is worrying.

I had a private scan last week and could see the baby moving continously but didn't feel a thing. I find I don't feel anything during the day and then in the evening I feel tiny little flutters but it isn't much.

The last few days I've worried that I don't look pregnant at all. My stomach has reduced and just looks a bit chubbier than pre pregnancy but I swear last week I looked pregnant.

Have you got your 20 week scan date yet? That will help you feel more reassured

Bam123 · 16/07/2019 15:24

That's reassuring as it shows you it's moving but you just can't feel it. I have my 20 week scan on 2nd August but I'm at the hospital now waiting to hear the babys heartbeat with the midwife. Really nice to know I'm not the only panicky mess 😂. It's just the evidence I need to know everything is okay rather then guess work or hoping for the best.

I'll ask the midwife too why stomachs seem to change and I'll update you 😊

I hope everything is okay. Sometimes we do just need that reassurance that things are as they should be. Hope it all goes well

Bam123 · 16/07/2019 17:20

Phew everything is fine! Baby's heart beat is healthy. Midwife said its fairly normal for your stomach to change as is can be bigger when you need the loo, the baby can be laying in a different position aswell and it can look different day to day, she said it's common and completely normal. It's deffinatly reassured me, hope this helps you too 😊
