Fed up with Neighbours!

Neighbours are quite new and basically have a house at the bottom of our garden. Have never spoken to them. There is a large tree in their garden which overhangs ours by quite a distance and drops leaves, acorns, etc. all over our garden and patio. Yesterday they have a tree surgeon round to cut part of it down - fair enough - but they didn't have the courtesy to advise us beforehand. When I came home there were branches, leaves, sawdust and bits of twig all over my garden and patio. One huge branch had flattened a hanging basket and my runner beans. If they had told us beforehand, I could have moved all this stuff. The tree surgeon came and removed the branches but left all the debris over my garden which I have had to clear up. They are pretty annoying in other ways too - have installed huge solar panels which reflect harsh glare into the bedrooms!!

What would you do - would you complain to them? My DH says leave it be, but he didn't have to clear up the mess!!

I wouldn’t say anything personally. It’s annoying.. I’ve had neighbours before who royally took the piss. We ended up having a row and guess what... it made them worse. All it does is upset you.
On a positive, they aren’t likely to have the tree cut again for a while, and they probably did it as it was overhanging. Can’t help the solar panels. I wouldn’t begrudge them of that personally. You can’t help which part of your house is south facing and the sun reflecting off them.

What's the point? What's done is done! C'est la vie. You'll only make matters worse by complaining and you've got to leave I've with these people!

I've had far, far worse trouble with inconsiderate and selfish, bullying neighbours and had to move house more than once, usually for noise issues. I wish my troubles had been so small in comparison.

I'd say keep quiet, it's just what happens when people prune their trees. Annoying but nothing to have a row about, nor are the panels. Can you move into another bedroom/s on the other side of the house at all?
