Utterly useless apps

I've just come across British Gas' apps.

I usually log in via the website, but it won't let me change my phone number.

I downloaded the British Gas app, which promptly told me to download the British Gas Smart app.

After downloading the British Gas Smart app, I tried to change my contact details.

It didn't have that option.

When I tried to call them, the first thing the automated switchboard asked for was my account number.

It was not on the app either.

I've had to ring off to find the paperwork and get my account number so I can call back, stay in a queue and change my home phone number and add a mobile number.

I thought these apps were supposed to make life easy?

I thought these apps were supposed to make life easy?

What a peculiar notion. Not sure where that came from.

Apps are there to make the companies life easier. And when I say "easier" I actually mean "easier to hoover up personal data that Google/Apple otherwise won't let you have".

The BG ones are awful. I had the original and everything worked perfectly. Then someone had the bright idea of creating a new app, totally killed the functionality of useful things like consumption and then screwed up the original app. I've tried contacting them but they take zero notice.
