I live half an hour away and today went for the first time in months.

headlock · 15/07/2019 22:06

I do and take them now and again. Sand everywhere is a pain.

Expressedways · 15/07/2019 22:08

We’re about a 10 minute walk and in summer we probably go about once a month. By the time you allow for the weather being right; not too hot, not too cold and actually being free it doesn’t leave that many beach days.

Sparadrap · 15/07/2019 22:08

Yes and yes. They spend more time on the beach than going to parks. We are only a few mins walk away so we often go after school, even in winter (unless it’s really awful weather).

Camomila · 15/07/2019 22:09

We go most weekends. Pebble beach.

Ride bikes/Walk/chuck pebbles in the winter and go to the paddling pool playground just off the beach in summer.

Janus · 15/07/2019 22:09

I live so blooming close but me and the dogs spend more time than me and children! Mostly because they have other interests such as sport and riding at the weekend. But older, teenagers, are there a lot with their friends.

Nicknacky · 15/07/2019 22:10

I’m a ten minute walk. I rarely take them to the beach but if we do go, then we drive to one 15 minutes away as it isn’t full of drunk people and teens fighting!

Yellowweatherwarning · 15/07/2019 22:11

10 seconds to the beach from our house . Dc aren't that keen tbh. Ddogs go every day though!

BananaFace5 · 15/07/2019 22:11

When they were younger we went all the time, we had spare trousers a towel and wellies/flip flops dependimg on the weather in the car boot at all times and even sometimes if we forgot to replace them theyd go in the water regardless cos life is too short to be bothered about wet trousers and a ride home in their pants! Weve not gone as often the last year or so eldest is 14 and a bit body conscious and the youngest has spent a good amount of time ill. We do go every few weeks thom even if just for a walk and no paddling

Hoolihan · 15/07/2019 22:11

I'm a 10 min walk from the beach - in the summer we go at least weekly and In good weather more than that. We went straight from school tonight and swam, had a picnic tea, saw friends. We will do the same tomorrow. In the winter we go once or twice a month for a walk, kite flying, stone throwing.

Tempjob · 15/07/2019 22:12

We are a 2-5 min drive to the beaches. Absolutely stunning here. The parking charges are a pain (£3 for 2 hours or £6 for all day) but we go about 2 times a week. It feels safer now that the children are a bit older and dont run off like they used to do as toddlers. We stay for 2 hours and then go home for lunch so that we dont need to buy food out.

MeganChips · 15/07/2019 22:14

I live about a mile and a half from the beach and we hardly ever go any more. It’s a pebble beach though, not as fun as a sandy beach.

snop · 15/07/2019 22:16

Live 5 mins away probably go about 5 times a year to the park and lake next to it, but I have never been sunbathing on it.

DappledThings · 15/07/2019 22:17

10 minute drive. We go at least once a week. Pebble beach and DC (1 and 3) love just chucking stones in the air. It's our standard afternoon on days we've been around in the morning and lunchtime so something to do after DD's nap. 45 mins or so chucking stones about followed by babychinno.

ScrambledToe · 15/07/2019 22:17

I used to live on anglesey and was at the beach most weekends a d after work.

Now live in the Lakes and spend most weekends and evenings of the summer swimming in one!

Bunnybigears · 15/07/2019 22:18

5 minute walk to the beach. DS12 and his friends hang around down there all the time. I rarely take DS9 to the beach as an actual destination, we might walk on the beach as part of getting from A to B or we might go and chuck some stones in the water on the way back from the park but we rarely actually set up camp on the beach and spend hours there.

Parsnippy · 15/07/2019 22:20

We are a 10 minute walk from the beach and go most days. We don't always go to play on the beach or in the sea. We go for a walk along the beach more often and keep playing for the warmer weather. The DC think anything other than freezing is ideal for beach fun.

TheFrenchLieutenantsMonkey · 15/07/2019 22:21

Yep. To both. Live about 10 minutes wall to the beach. In summer we go at least 3 times a week. Spend ages in the rock.pools, building sand castles and reading books. Talk is your friend to get rid of sandy feet/legs before you get in the car.

TheFrenchLieutenantsMonkey · 15/07/2019 22:22

Talc not talk...bloody autocorrect!

SoyDora · 15/07/2019 22:22

Tempjob if it’s a 2 minute drive and parking is expensive, wouldn’t you be better off walking?!

Gingerivy · 15/07/2019 22:23

We used to live close to a beach but rarely went. Between work schedules, weather, and other commitments, we just didn't make the time.

coffeeaddiction · 15/07/2019 22:24

We're about a 15 minute drive to our nearest beach and we go every weekend without fail rain or shine

Singleandproud · 15/07/2019 22:28

Yes, I live 5 mins drive away and DDs dad lives 2 mins walk a way. DD goes every Saturday in the summer as there is a surf club. We don’t necessarily go for a whole day on the beach as you would on holiday. We have a splash park and lovely play area at the beach too so often pop down to them for an ice cream and play for an hour or so. Well pop down for a walk in the evening or get to the beach early in the morning before the tourists arrive.

When I was younger a beach trip involved getting up at 5:30 am and being stuck in traffic for what seemed like forever. I’m very glad my parents decided to move from a city to the coast.

bonbonours · 15/07/2019 22:29

We live a fifteen minute walk away from the beach (pebbles). When my kids were small we went all the time, now they are older we are busier so it's harder to find time but they are never bored of it. In the summer we go sea swimming after school and every other chance we get. I think pebbles are better than sand as less messy and loads of fun looking for interesting ones and shells, and throwing them in the sea. Mine also love crabbing and just hanging out on the beach reading or chatting.

cheesenpickles · 15/07/2019 22:29

We live ten minutes away and I never take them Blush
