Oh yes it's also our regular place to ride bikes/scooters along the promenade.

Youngandfree · 15/07/2019 22:32

We live on the coast near several beaches and we visit a beach and/or the prom weekly.

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 15/07/2019 22:35

Ten minute walk to the nearest, we walk there prob once a week. Drive to others a few times a week. DD currently having sailing lessons through primary school so there weekly, DS Beaver group at beach every few weeks, we have regular evening swim with friends.
One of the main reasons we moved back down here, would be bonkers not to make the most of it.
Avoid more popular ones in hols though.

Youngandfree · 15/07/2019 22:37

@Tempjob that’s crazy prices!! Ours is free until summer season (1st June)and even then it’s only €2 a day!

twirlypoo · 15/07/2019 22:40

I used to live 10 mins walk away when Ds was little, we used to go more in winter and in evenings. Ds used to get annoyed with “strangers in his garden” when it was over-run with tourists in the height of summer.

purplemunkey · 15/07/2019 22:44

We live by the coast, 5/10 min drive from a number of beaches. We go often, not just sunny days. It's a lovely place to go most of the year for a walk and fresh air.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 15/07/2019 22:44

10 minute walk. Yes, we are there a few times a week playing/paddling/biking along the prom. Having lovely swims at the moment. The reason we moved here!

KiwiUpATree · 15/07/2019 22:48

5 mins in the car, and pretty often year round - but we’re in NZ

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 15/07/2019 22:52

10-20 minutes from several beaches. We were there today. It reminded me why we don’t go more often Grin sand fucking everywhere. We go every few months.

TheBigFatMermaid · 15/07/2019 22:52

I live a 10 minute drive away and really don't take them as often as I should, but at 12 and 13, very nearly 13 and 14, they could take themselves. DD does sometimes, but DS doesn't.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 15/07/2019 22:53

10 minutes away from a pebble beach and you can’t get them there for love nor money

PickAChew · 15/07/2019 22:54

About an hour on the bus and they prefer walking on the seafront, where the pokestops are, if we head over there!

fishfood88 · 15/07/2019 22:54

Closest beach is about 10 min drive and there's literally tons of beaches within half an hour of us. Between me and my parents, DD gets taken to a beach 1-3 times a week in the summer and probably once a week rest of the year. We all bloody love the beach!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 15/07/2019 22:56

5 minutes walk to a pebble beach, about 20 minutes to a sandy beach. If we haven’t quiet day we go, it varies how often that is.

I often go to boot camps on the beach - all year round.

Ds2 was playing in a tag rugby tournament today in the beach - they walked from school.

I love living near the sea.

Toomanyspoons · 15/07/2019 22:57

Yes all the time. Tonight after work I went sailing and there were 30 children ( aged 7-14) all sailing. Move near the sea! How true is this of everyone else? “Finished school; went to the park/home”. Wow. A park. Crucially, the sea works well for all ages. It has - ahem - depth. Teens windsurfing/sailing to toddlers paddling. Teens hanging out in a park vs teens on the water. Move!

Wrongdissection · 15/07/2019 22:58

Live about a 10 minute drive away and we’re there several times a week, usually walking the dog.

Littlechocola · 15/07/2019 23:03

Yes, we don’t go as often as we should. It’s either too cold or full of tourists.

Wrongdissection · 15/07/2019 23:04

We probably spend more time at the beach in the winter tbh as it’s an easy place to take the dog where he won’t be up to his ears in mud.

MegBusset · 15/07/2019 23:12

About 25 minutes to the nearest beach, many dozens within an hour's drive. We go maybe once a month? Usually for a walk as DC are a bit less happy now they are heading into teenage years to just potter around with buckets and spades!

redeyetonowheregood · 16/07/2019 05:57

45 mins drive if we set off early or late...twice as long if we go any other time. Last summer we went a lot...after school, weekends...usually every couple of months out of season. This summer we haven't been as much. Just busy. We are heading there this weekend though. I need the air.

Myfoolishboatisleaning · 16/07/2019 06:04

When they were younger, multiple times per week but we lived in a really hot country. I prefer the pool though, I don’t like sand in everything.

Happyandglorious · 16/07/2019 06:40

15 min drive go almost every week all through the year and have been nearly every avo since the kids broke up.
Car is permanently filled with sand. Think it's worth it to have outdoor, free fun that all the kids (teenagers and primary school age) enjoy.
Should add that I love it too as opposed to the grim soft plays etc that I dragged myself to when they were babies

Janus · 16/07/2019 09:02

Morning walk with dogs!

Do you live near the beach and if so, do you take your DC often?
Knitwit99 · 16/07/2019 09:06

Yep, most days. Ds is 13 and goes with his friends. He plays beach volleyball there. Younger ones usually go with me. They are in the sea in all weathers. I swim in the sea twice a week. Also love a nice coffee from the coffee shop on the prom.

I didn't grow up near the sea so it's still a novelty to me that I live near it now

Emmabryant123 · 16/07/2019 09:38

5 minutes walk
We go about once a week in the summer
