Yoga or Pilates to complement weight training?

I've been doing power pump for the last 6 months and have recently moved on to lifting heavier weights independently. I feel like I need to do some kind of stretching exercises as I'm not very flexible which is making things like squats extra hard.

What do you think would benefit me most, yoga or Pilates? Or both??

Tia

Anyone?!

I'd say Pilates. Yoga takes up more mental energy, in my opinion.

Thanks Bezalelle! Any more opinions??

Second vote for pilates. I combined treadmill (25 km/week) with personal trainer - lots of squats with weight, deadlifts and other weights - and pilates (I had more time and energy then, and a cheaper gym!). Best I have ever looked, and I could eat ANYTHING!

Yoga isn't as focussed on the core, it's great, but with what you're doing, pilates (or both?). If you go to a gym that does 'body balance', that's a good compromise between the two.

Pilates is better for core strengthening, yoga is better for flexibility. Can you do a mix of both?

Pilates completely transformed my body. It builds long lean muscle in a very low impact, controlled way.

Yoga is good for balance, mental health, but unlikely to show a big impact physically.

Both would probably be good but I'm guessing to get the full benefits I need to go at least twice a week. My main focus is strength training so can only fit in twice a week yoga/Pilates.
