Depositing a cheque online

I realise I am probably way behind the times

I have a cheque issued by Barclays. I bank with lloyds. The website says I can deposit this cheque via the app simply by scanning it. Does that work? And does it still take the usual 5 days to clear?

I do this all the time, just open the app on your phone and follow the instructions.

Put the cheque on a dark surface and take the photo from above to get the best image fix or else it will keep asking you to move the camera.

Not sure how long it takes, but it’s on the Lloyds website, maybe 3 days?

You need the Lloyds banking app downloaded. It's dead easy to do - the app gives you the step by step instructions to photograph the cheque & type in the amount. Then it clears in the usual way.

How do they stop you from depositing said cheque a number of times if you still physically have it?

Well it didn't work Took a few goes to get the photo accepted, then it said cheque not accepted, please take to branch. I really wanted to be all digital

With the Lloyds app the cheque clears the next day which is fab. You have to make sure all the writing is illegible or it will be rejected. They give you numerous attempts to photograph the cheque.
I've had a few rejected because something couldn't be clearly read.

The name has to match your account name exactly too, any slight difference and it will reject it.

I can’t get the app to work half the time which is frustrating, but when it works it’s great.

Kpo58 each cheque has a unique #number on it now so once it’s scanned, it would reject it if tried again.

I do it with my BOS app and it clears the cheque next day.
