Has anyone lost a lot of weight very sloooooowly?

If so, can you give me some words of encouragement please?

I have lost the grand total of 2.4k over 5 weeks. In the past, I’ve lost that in a week by starving myself or low carbing, but I’ve never been able to keep it up. This time, I’m eating well, I don’t feel I’m on a diet and I also feel I’m healing my disordered approach to food. But it’s so slow and I have about 4 stones to go.

Has anyone lost 4 stones this way? If so, how long did it take?

I did 3 stone in 8 months, slow and steady and I've kept it off for 2 1/2 years so far. The slower it comes off the slower it is to put back on because you've changed habits and life styles for a longer period. Just remember you can't go back to eating like you did before or it will go back on. Good luck

I started tracking what I eat on my fitness pal in October last year and set the calorie limit to lose 0.5-1lb a week. It hasn’t been like dieting really, just being conscious of not over eating. I’m quite relaxed about it and if I occasionally go over I don’t beat myself up about it. I’ve lost 38 pounds so far

Thank you GoldenBlue. Actually, I like this way of eating. I feel very ‘nourished’. Before, I was trying to get by on too little, and then binged. Now I’m eating really well. The rubbish has pretty much gone from my diet (except for wine!).

That’s great, Madame. I’m not calorie counting, but am following a plan (very roughly) set out for me by a nutritionist which is set at about 1600 per day - much more than I ever thought I could lose weight on. I’m simply eating less rubbish, but eating vey well. It seems so easy.

It’s about 23 weeks to Christmas. If I could lose 2 sone by then, and another 2 before the end of next May, I would be thrilled.

I'm about 6 weeks into my "lose 52lb in 52 weeks" challenge.

9lbs down which isn't a huge amount (I've lost that in a few weeks before albeit by being extreme!!)

I've always focused on small goals and it's not worked so this time I'm setting a bigger challenge.

Not feeling motivated today (Saturday is my cheat day and I overdid the red wine last night) but I know if I can lose weight without too many sacrifices then I'll be able to persevere.

Crunchymum - looks like we have similar goals. I’m setting small goals and huge goals. My next goal is to lose 2 kilos in just under 4 weeks and I have another which is to get my BMI into the overweight, rather than the obese bracket.

I tend not to have bad diet days as I don’t feel I’m on a diet. But I know it would come off faster if I gave up the wine!

Yep.
Lost 3st a few years ago which took about 9 months - just changed a few bad food habits in my diet, no exercise apart from walking. Maintained that for three years and started again this year, so far am 2st 8lbs down with around another 3st 6lb to go to reach my goal. I exercise now too.
