Progesterone

Hello All!

I previously had a miscarriage at 7 weeks in March 2019 and had bleeding throughout that pregnancy, I am now pregnant again and have started to bleed again :( every website/forum says to try progesterone as it may help. I have asked my GP who refused, so i changed my Drs surgery and asked my new GP who refused, I then asked the early pregnancy unit, who refused and antenatal who refused!

I am super frustrated as I feel progesterone might help me not miscarriage again and I don't understand why I am not able to have it to give my baby a better chance.

Has anyone used progesterone before? If so how did you get it?

Thank you x

I had to see a private doctor at a Nuffield hospital and he gave me a private prescription for Cyclogest. Cost about £200. He was fantastic. Even took the time to scan me when I was bleeding at 12 weeks and wouldn't take any money.

Wishing you all the best OP.

My GP had to give me a referral letter first though.

I was prescribed progesterone as a matter of course ( along with strong folic acid and aspirin) by the Pregnancy loss clinic) after 3 losses. This led to two successful pregnancies . I used cyclogest on the second pregnancy also.

I had one miscarriage and 3 healthy pregnancies. I bled through each of them. They never found a reason for the bleeding. While it is very frightening, it doesn't necessarily mean miscarriage. If the early pregnancy unit are telling you that everything looks ok, try not to assume the worst.
