Am I having a miscarriage at 12 weeks

I’m currently 12 weeks pregnant with my second baby and yesterday morning I felt like I was wetting myself. I went to the toilet and it was red blood that had soaked through my underwear and jeans. I then went to the hospital where they did blood test and an internal check. I was told my cervix’s was still closed so it was 50/50 whether I was having a miscarriage as it could be a missed miscarriage(which doesn’t make sense to me as I thought you didn’t bleed with a missed one)
The bleeding lasted a couple of hours and I only went through 1 pad. I then had no blood throughout the night just some dark blood when I wipe.
They told me the earliest scan available was Thursday and this would confirm what is going on. However i have booked for a private scan today at 2 to see what is going on. Has anyone experienced this before, does it sound like I’ve misscarried?
Thank you in advance
Ellie x

Don't panic yet. I had very similar in both my pregnancies and all was well. If you aren't having any pain it's a good sign

I'm afraid no one but the scan can tell you what's going on as I do think it's 50/50 however you will get positive and negative stories. So my positive story is I had a big bleed at 14 weeks and the Dr said it didn't look good. At the scan everything was fine and she's now 2.5 and jumping on my bed. Fi gers crossed it all goes well.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I didn’t want to read and run but I haven’t quite been in the same situation.

I had spotting at 7 and 8 weeks with a HB. I was wearing a pad because of ongoing spotting when I pulled it down at 10 weeks and it was full of rusty colored blood. Had a cervix check and MW actually swabbed a load of blood out of the neck of the womb. No explanation and baby is now teething.

But it can go 50/50 as you know, I’d had 2 prior MC with bleeding at earlier weeks. Your cervix being closed is a good sign.

A private scan today is the right thing to do. Hopefully it will put your mind at rest. Flowers

I had similar at about week 24, all was fine

Byebyefriend · 13/07/2019 08:02

I've had this twice, one time the bleeding lightened then stopped and resulted in dd. The other time it got heavier and I miscarried.

I hope your scan brings you good news

HairyFloppins · 13/07/2019 08:15

I had a bleed at 12 weeks all was fine. It continued on until about 30 weeks. Mine was caused by a cervical erosion.

I really hope everything is ok for you in the scan.

rainbowstardrops · 13/07/2019 08:16

I don't have experience of this but just wanted to send good vibes for your scan today. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

When they said MMC, the baby could have stopped growing at say 6 weeks. Unless the miscarriage happens at that point then it becomes a MMC. Even if it happens spontaneously later it would be a MMC.

However, bleeding IS common in pregnancy. So hopefully everything is ok.

I would try and book a private scan.

Thank you so much for the quick responses, I really hope all goes well today but I'm also trying to prepare myself to not see a heart beat. I haven't had any pain and I had my usual feeling of morning sickness this morning before I ate breakfast so hoping this is a good sign. X

I miscarried once, and passed some visible clots etc, not just bleeding.

With my next pregnancy I bled much more, yet delivered a healthy full term baby.

Best of luck.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 13/07/2019 08:24

That's good.

Still get another scan for extra reassurance. Sometimes they can see a little pocket where the blood came, like a small haematoma type of thing. And that's enough reassurance .

Best of luck.

I had exactly the same thing at exactly the same time and then a few more bleeds over the following weeks. All was fine so hopefully it will be for you, too. Private scans are godsends, total godsends.

crosspelican · 13/07/2019 10:17

Thinking of you - good luck.

I had a bleed after sex at 16 weeks which seemed like a lot of blood to me, but it was all fine.

Just got back from the scan and baby was kicking away and had amazing heart beat. Thank you for all your messages xx

So pleased to read this Flowers

Minai · 13/07/2019 15:03

I’m glad your scan went well. My sister had a huge gush of blood twice during her pregnancy at about 11 and 14 weeks. The rest of it was uneventful and resulted in my lovely 4 year old niece. Hope it all settles down
