Have you had your vacuum cleaner for more than 2 years? Do you have a pet? If so, can you tell me what it is please?

I mean, tell me what your vacuum cleaner is...not your pet!
I think my Vax Air Pet has just died. Angry I have had it less than 3 years but it just seems to have lost suction.

I only had the vacuum cleaner before then for a couple of years too and I am starting to get seriously pissed off!

Can someone please recommend me a bomb-proof vacuum that can cope with pet hair (I have a beautiful ginger cat!), can effectively clean stairs and will actually last a while?! Angry

Asthma in the family, have had a Henry, a Dyson Animal and a Miele Cat&Dog.

The Miele wins by far.

slyoldfox · 12/07/2019 21:33

Miele Cat & Dog here too

whiteroseredrose · 12/07/2019 21:41

And another Miele cat and dog. Mine is about 4 years old my mums is possibly 10 years old

TanMateix · 12/07/2019 21:43

Also have a cordless Dyson for as much lighter and easier for stairs (utterly shite, sorry... we have gone through 2 in three years and were not used that much... the battery just stops charging enough but they never had much suction) so as they died the Miele came back down... 12 years on and still lifts the carpet as in its first day.

4 children, very hairy golden retriever and.... a Miele Cat and Dog. Out first one lasted for 15 years. Second one 3 years in and good as new. My parents have Dyson and I hate it (really heavy and keeps going wrong!)

Eistigi · 12/07/2019 21:50

Miele Cat & Dog here. First one lasted 12 years, current one is 5 years old & going strong.

Advisemeplease1 · 12/07/2019 22:03

For all those with the miele cat and dog, is that the upright, bagged one or the bagless cylinder one?

Thanks

nespressowoo · 12/07/2019 22:03

Dyson Animal. The ball one.

bikinilinetoknees · 12/07/2019 22:15

I have 3 hairy dogs and a Henry hoover .

It's shit .. apart from falling over every time you pull it even slightly off a straight line , it doesn't pick much up either and it's impossible to store neatly and tries to attack me Every time I want to use the tumble dryer .

It's so bad I requested a new hoover for my recent birthday instead of something lovely just me but strangely my DH won't part with it .

It's probably 10 years old and dies a death at least once a year but dh always manages to find the spare part from somewhere bastard , i don't even call it the hoover anymore , I call it triggers broom Grinit been fixed so many times !

Shadowboy · 12/07/2019 22:17

Alaskan malamutes x2 bought our Dyson in 2009....it’s still going!

cyclingwith3 · 12/07/2019 22:17

My Dyson upright did 7 years with pets (with a few new rubber bands for the brush) and my current dyson animal has done 6 in good form

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 12/07/2019 22:19

Miele vacuum is fab.
We have cats.

Yessers · 12/07/2019 22:19

Henry Hoovers are great for pets and for everything else.

RandomMess · 12/07/2019 22:36

Miele all the way here...

2 long haired cats, a dog and 4 long haired humans

ThatLibraryMiss · 12/07/2019 22:38

Vax here I had to clean the filters the other day because it was losing power suction. Can you take yours to a repair shop?

If I was replacing it the shark has brill. reviews for pet hairs.

MagicKingdom · 12/07/2019 22:53

Shark lift away here too, also have the slimmer pet version. Both a few years old. Have 2 hairy pugs and two kids to clean up after.

Longdistance · 12/07/2019 22:54

We have a Miele cat and dog hoover. Dh had it before he met me so 2005 at a guess??? 3 girls with long hair later it’s still in good nick. Though occasionally have to take the brushes out the hoover head to take the hair out 🤢

Summersunshine2 · 12/07/2019 23:09

Dyson!

sandyfoot · 12/07/2019 23:10

Sebo. Was recommended by industrial cleaners we know. Dog, family of horse riders, rugby players and mtb riders so plenty mud to contend with. Still going strong 14 years later.

Gertie75 · 12/07/2019 23:40

I've had dogs for 25 years, as many as 5 at a time and have gone through so many Dysons but they all lose suction, I now have the Shark and it's so much better, it still picks up really well, you can get it flat to go under the bed frame, the lift away bit is great for the stairs, only downside is the bin is small but I'd rather empty it more knowing it's picked up the hairs than empty the Dyson once and still have a hairy carpet.
