I mean, tell me what your vacuum cleaner is...not your pet!
I think my Vax Air Pet has just died. I have had it less than 3 years but it just seems to have lost suction.

I only had the vacuum cleaner before then for a couple of years too and I am starting to get seriously pissed off!

Can someone please recommend me a bomb-proof vacuum that can cope with pet hair (I have a beautiful ginger cat!), can effectively clean stairs and will actually last a while?!

We have a basic vax and three cats. It does a pretty good job for an £80 vacuum.

But there are plenty of second hand and reconditioned ones about. As some people like to buy a newer shineyer one after a few years.

Shark lift away... 2 years old next month ... and a long haired cat. And 2 guinea pigs but they don't shed hair around the house! I used to have a Miele cat & dog tt but it lost suction after a few years and tbh I was never a big fan (I accept I'm in a minority!)

Dyson DC24 pet mini version. Had it since 2010 and it's amazing. It's like a toy vacuum in size but brilliant.

Sorry - two floofy sheddy cats, a messy baby and two not particularly neat adults.

Nilfisk all the way. My mam had hers for 20 years and still going strong.

Floofy German shepard and a collie cross here. Copes well with the hair even on carpet.

henry - 8 years old. 2 cats and now a very fluffy dog.

Hetty Hoover. About 4 years old. She even cleaned up after a major remodel (plaster walls and ceilings down) in our last place. She’s a trooper. And very pretty eyes as well!

Miele cat and dog hair....like many others have already said they last forever. We have a dog plus family dogs and 3 kids. Has to be 11 years old now.

Shark, but don't rate it. Nice setup and flexible/adjustable so initially very pleased with it, but over time less enamoured.

Suction has significantly weakened (even with filter cleaned), poor on hard floors, cheap nasty tools (even the add on power brush which is cracked already) which are essential for stairs when you have a labrador and it frustrates me how easily it falls over when you use the tools.

I am the proud owner of a wonderful Shark liftaway.

Shes never let me down.

Its done over 10,000 miles as I take her out for a spin everyday

Henry hoover. We've got two kids and a cat who sheds fur everywhere, it must be getting on for ten years old and still works fine

Dyson, bog standard, easily ten years old. It was losing suction until I found and cleaned the filter! Marvellous!

We had a Miele cat and dog but smoke started coming out of it so we went back to a Dyson.
