Friday Afternoon open plan office hell

I know its been done a thousand times but why the fuck don't people know how to have a conversation without their voice travelling across the room??

I have got headphones in and can still hear 2 separate people. There are probably 40 people in here and I can only hear these two.

One is bimbling on about the Next sale and the other is having a phone conversation about a meeting agenda.

Plus I just went to the communal printer and someone has left it jammed

Can't wait to get out of here and do the weekly food shop - Friday night in the supermarket is a dream compared to this!

I used to like working in an open plan office, I need to be actively blocking something out in order to concentrate. If I'm on my own or in a very quiet room my mind wanders.

The printer thing is incredibly annoying though, and invariably happens when you need to have something printed on a tight deadline.
