Mole on my back has grown...

Stressedoutaboutinlaws · 12/07/2019 06:53

A picture of my back tatoo came up on facebook memories today, which made me realise that the then little freckle/mole right next to my tatoo has grown significantly over the last 3 years...

Still meed to register with a doctor after moving 3 months ago, so will do that today and try and get an appointment

How serious is this likely to be?

Also, i know this sounds ridiculously shallow, it wont stop ne from doing anything etc but does anyone know if any investigative work will ruin my tattoo? Obviously I'll chase this up either way, but i would rather no if its likely going to be messed up for this.

You need to get it looked at. It won't be removed unless it looks suspicious, in which case that is a lot more important than the tattoo.

Could be something, could be nothing. If they want to remove it they will take the mole and a little bit of surrounding skin to get the margins. Stitching it together could distort the tattoo.

My dh has just had one removed from his back, it was the size of a 5 p coin and they took out a piece of skin about 10p size. he had a line of 5 stitches in the outside and I think 7 internally. It was only about a month ago and has healed really neatly. If your mole is next to rather than actually on your tattoo it should be fine. They are sending it off for testing but don’t think it’s anything to worry about. It was more precautionary, but his scar is very near and barely noticeable. Get it checked.

Very neat not near

This is why asking for medical advice on here is not a good idea.

You'll get someone telling you they nearly died from it and someone else telling you it's nothing and not to bother going to see the doctor.

Go and see a doctor.

Statistically speaking it's probably fine but you don't want to be one of the people who didn't go to the doctor because a stranger in the internet told you it's fine and it wasn't.

Hope all is ok.

You need to see a di tor taking your picture with you so they can see how it's grown.

go and see a doctor, you know you must! however, I had a right old panic about a 'mole' on my back when dd noticed it had grown very quickly, convinced myself i was dying, the specialist took aprrox 10 seconds to tell me it was a wart! Blush it went after I covered it with a plaster for week, I felt a total pillock but so glad I had it checked - as to your tattoo, I would think a good tattoo artist could make good if you do end up with a small scar.

I have lots of moles but one on my back was different. Saw GP (no way I was going to ignore it). He said it is different because it is the sort you get when you are older. He didn't take a biopsy. This was about 12 years ago.

Stressedoutaboutinlaws · 12/07/2019 11:17

Ive attached pictures... The older one is the one with the arrow, I've added an arrow to show the tiny mole, so not to get confused with the other one on my back that hasnt grown.

More recent one isnt good, ill get a better one when dp gets home from work, but think you can see the mole that has defo got bigger.
