A while ago someone posted a riddle about someone called Boswell (I think that was the name)

It popped into my head today. Did the riddle ever get solved?

Oh, I'd forgotten about that. No, don't think it was. Some guff about not being about say what it means when you know.

I think many posters had a few theories but i am not sure the OP ever came back to confirm an answer. There were like 3 threads about it i think.

Absolutely ridiculous I'd forgotten it. It's where my 'ForShort' came from.

Some of the answers where very convoluted and hilarious for what I recall.

And they called him Bos for short, or something like that

It was definitely a windup I think. Made no sense whatsoever and the ‘theories’ were really grasping

My uncle told me this riddle when I was small.
The answer is a bit disappointing really.
His name is Boswell and the supposedly shortened version of his name is 'Bosandhewalkedupthepostofficesteps' That's supposed to be the joke. That his nickname is longer than his actual name.
Annoying and not funny. I think that's why Op didn't share the answer in the end.

The entire thread was a waste of time with no actual answer.
