Yes, I used to do it a lot. I have a couple of books with instructions and recipes, but you'll find all of that online easily. All you really need is fat of some kind, water and caustic soda - although you'll need it all in precice amounts and it can all be a bit fiddly, and obviously it's nice to make it smell and feel nice with various additives.

I'd think youtube will have very hand visual instructions to show you the process, and there are tons of websites out there. www.soapguild.org/ comes to my mind first, as I used to use their lye calculator.
