Sausage rolls. Doesn’t matter if it’s for 4 year olds or 40 year olds, they always go first.

Otherwise, I don’t think you can go wrong with a cheese board, French bread, celery, grapes, walnuts, etc. Maybe an antipasti selection and some smoked fish too.

One year was so busy went to Iceland and bought those party packs, mini quiches, prawns in filo etc. just threw them in the basket, ditto puddings, they went down a storm with the children and adults alike. I did have to use the oven though.

PORK PIE! It's buffet law

I hate the pork pie, sausage roll, cold pizza offering. But nice cheese, crackers, pickles, crusty bread, salad, pate, hot chilli - veg or meat, is all good.

Egg sandwiches - the best part of a buffet!Grin

I've found, that separate bits for sandwiches goes down well and also a little thing, but don't butter the bread, have a small dish of butter/margarine (my mum didn't like butter/margarine and neither does my friends daughter), I also have salad 🥗, bread sticks, dips, mini/party eggs, duck spring rolls, yakitori chicken. Then once the kids have done eating that, I wash fruit in their punnets (strawberries, blackberries & blueberries) also have some tangerines and just put them out as they are, the kids go nuts and are on them like a flash! I then put the cakes out whilst they are devouring the fruit. All my friends love me for it, as the kids don't go home on a sugar rush. Win win 👍🏻
