Where are all the Brits?! None here where I am

I am in Tenerife and there's absolutely no other British people here.

Just me and DS. It's quite nice in a way because it's quiet and there's not really that many people here at all! Yet it's supposedly a very popular hotel. Yet everyone is either Spanish, Scandinavian or German.

I've not heard a single other British accent.

I thought Tenerife would be really noisy at this time of year too but even the beach was quiet. I jumped out of my skin when I heard someone speak with an English accent on the beach cafe Grin

I'm quite missing all the English noise.

There are the cutest little lizards here though. I'm tempted to touch one. I can get up quite close and they don't seem to care or move away, hotel gentleman says they're harmless....

Hotels are often dominated by one or two nationalities, depending on which tour operators bloom book the rooms and which brands are popular in the home country.

Fyi the lizards (Gallotias) are completely harmless, if you're quick enough to catch one! Native to the Canaries and only be found on a couple of the Islands, and they're so cute! Keep a look out for the fantastic rainbow coloured crabs that clamber up the volcanic rocks by the sea, they're beautiful. Enjoy the chilled atmosphere of the North, and if you do decide to venture back to Tenerife, check out the south so you can experience both sides to the island. (Or hire a car/ catch a bus and take a day trip down there, the island is so small, it won't take long to get across it.)

Onthebeach are one of the ones I meant. They aren't a main package provider, they are basically a search engine that brings up the cheapest bundles and they put them together if that makes sense. Then add an agent fee.

They don't own an airline, run kids clubs, provide reps or have their own transfer buses, check in desks at the airport etc.

By the looks of the reviews and the tour operators selling that hotel it is predominantly German and Russian tourists.

If you're wanting to socialise with other brits on holiday, especially for your DS, try next time going with Jet2holidays or Thomas Cook or Tui.

Thanks all! I really wasn't aware on the beach weren't a major provider... I thought they were a popular package holiday site Blush

I like Jet2Holidays but they don't fly from London Luton for some reason. And I refuse to go anywhere else airport wise since I can walk to Luton airport Grin

That's a shame. Jet2holidays are great.

I think onthebeach are popular but it's always worth checking the reviews etc as well. They'll basically sell you any holiday whereas the others guide you towards "their" hotels/flights/transfers/clubs. Onthebeach don't actually own anything other than their website

Wow, if I was walking distance from the airport I'd never be in the country!
