Newquay Beaches

Hi all,

We have booked to go Newquay in a few weeks and are looking for recommendations of the nicest beaches around the area, with the nicest sand and clearest water.

Also anything else that is a must do while we are in Cornwall.

Thanks

Hi @Twotome I was on Towan beach yesterday, I went in up to my shoulders and could see my feet (I'm 5"5). But for the clearest water, I would recommend St Ives (the roads are really tight though!!) The Eden Project is amazing, but a bit pricey.

Sorry posted too early 🤦🏼‍♀️ Perranporth is a nice beach (there are jelly fish on that beach at the moment, also on some others but can't remember which ones) my phone won't let me add photos at the moment.

St Ives isn't far away and is lovely but Newquay has beautiful beaches such as Great Western and Towan. It's a lovely place, I hope you have a great holiday.

Fistral is nice, but the original sand was washed away with the storms a couple of years ago, so they had to replace it, whatever it is they have used, it is quite course.
We also like Padstow, but it is a walk to get there, in the harbour, you have Harbour Ice which we think is the best ice cream 🍦 you can have clotted cream on top too, can't think of how to get to it, but round the back somewhere there is Chips Ahoy, they only have 2 tables outside, but I really love the fish and chips from there.
You also have Holywell Bay (just outside Newquay) they filmed Poldark on that beach. Charlestown, where they filmed the dock parts of Poldark.
Healey's cider farm, they have a tractor ride.
Ann's cottage discount wearhouse just outside St Columb Major.
Flambards, has an olde worlde street and theme park rides.
Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, does it show I had to copy that! 🤦🏼‍♀️
That's all I can think of at the moment, I'm going back in the pool now, by the way, it's a freezing cold pool, which is nice on this hot day.
@Twotome hope you have a lovely holiday

I also recommend St Ives, lived in Cornwall for over 10 years and the nicest beaches I've ever been to. Although when the weather is nice the Newquay beaches are just as nice

You should also be able to get a 2 for 1 offer or something similar with Eden Project and Gardens of Heligan.

Thank you everyone.

We are staying at a holiday park but really hoping to see some of Cornwall as it’s our first time here.

Will have a look how far all the recommended places are from where we are staying. We have a 5.5 hour drive from home and only there for 5 days so really want to make the most of it Smile

If you're up for travelling a bit further afar, Kynance Cove is absolutely stunning and you can do a walk along the Lizard Coast to Lizard Point.

Would also highly recommend Porthleven, Padstow and Port Isaac as super beautiful towns to visit Smile

Oh my god and the beach next to the Minack Theatre! I think it's called Porthcurno beach

PrincessIsAUnicorn · 12/07/2019 20:05

These pictures were taken on Perranporth beach, as you can see my dog loved it, the first one shows the beach from the sea, the second you can see the sea then the third is one of the 3 jellyfish we found Smile

Definitely Perranporth beach, i have been going there since I was a child, love it.
And a nice bar on the beach called watering hole that does nice hot chocolate as well as alcohol and nice food. Drinks are more expensive there than in the town though.
Definitely visit st ives its a lovely place, nice cafes, art shops, and very oldy worldy.

I recommend Perranporth too, an Amazing beach not far from Newquay
