Apologies for being a completely ignorant with technology but can someone help me with a Twitter question please? The water from our taps was brown this morning so I tweeted the water company - advice on here is always to Tweet to get faster response. Started the Tweet with @name of company. It appeared on my home page but hasn’t appeared on water company page nearly an hour later. Did I do it wrong or am I missing something? Other Tweets on their page start with @name of company.......

Did you use the exact capitalisation and lower case?

Yes, I went onto their Twitter page and clicked new tweet and the @name of company automatically came up at the start of my Tweet.

It wont appear on the water companies page unless its a retweet or a comment reply. They will see the tweet.

Ah I see! I thought it was like Facebook where you wrote on someone's wall. So if I want my Tweet to be seen by other customers of the company, I need to get a friend to retweet my original tweet? Only then will it appear on the company's page. That's a shame as I only have about 10 followers!

The company would have to retweet it for it to appear on their page.
