As a plane geek I'm watching all the diversions on Flight Radar.

Drone??

BBC saying air traffic control systems issue.

Imagine how much worse it would be if we concentrated more planes out of Heathrow with a third runway and it was affected.

Cyber attack?

Is this just departures? Inspired by the FlightRadar idea, it seems like a number are still landing?

I did not know about this app. Thank you from one plan geek to another.

I spend so much time on the app.

So much seems to be happening at Gatwick whereas Heathrow seems to be ok. It's odd.

FlightRadar24 - amazing.

DS was on a flight that had an aborted landing at City Airport last year, and he text to tell me!!! I spent the next hour telling him where they were, that they looked to be headed to Stansted, then the flight aimed back to City as the storm had passed.

I watched the flight coming in with all fingers crossed, and saw it land. Phew.

It was quite stressful at the time - especially with his texts about loads of passengers throwing up etc., but very cool to send a screenshot of the route they were taking, so he could see all the squiggles for himself.

And yes, DH slept through it all!

Lightsabre - Air Traffic Control systems tend to be isolated from the internet - we have our own.

In the centre I worked in the nearest internet connection to the ATC computers was next door.
