On hold- PIP Mandatory Reconsideration

netflixlove · 10/07/2019 14:26

It's been over 15 weeks now since I sent in my PIP MR including evidence from my GP & Psychiatrist. (Claim is related to MH difficulties that I've had from age 12 & Epilepsy from age 14).

I've been on hold now for 30 mins to try and talk to someone, no answer so far. I had an assessment a while ago and the assessor LIED on the notes and wouldn't let me speak at the assessment unless it was a yes/no answer to the questions she was reading off the screen. I'd claimed successfully for over 4 years (think it was DLA before I was 18 though) achieving £430pm to support me and even though my health (physical and mental) has gotten worse they suddenly decided I was fine despite being underweight, unable to work or attend college (I'm trying to go back in September this year), having panic attacks every night and being unable to leave the house most days.

This is such a joke.

Just got through. Despite me sending the MR proof with recorded delivery they have not received it and have no record of a MR on their system.

Fuck my life. I've got to find the tracking number now and call them back. I just want to cry, it's been 15 weeks!

Flowers. Thinking of you. I hope you get things sorted. Short delivering it yourself you can't do anymore than send it by recorded delivery, can you. Also I bet those phone calls aren't cheap either, are they.

netflixlove · 10/07/2019 15:43

@Awwlookatmybabyspider Surprisingly they're free thankfully!
Thank you so much, we've found the tracking number so I'll have to see where it's ended up, looks like it'll be another 10 weeks at least before I know anythingSad

It's one of those days today!

Hi, I was where you are. I used to ring up every Friday to try chase it up. It went to tribunal (which I couldn’t attend as was in hospital) and I won and was awarded high rate care and standard rate mobility. So don’t give up!

BlankTimes · 10/07/2019 23:16

If it's Post Office Tracked, the tracking no. entered on the PO website will give you the time it was delivered, the signature of the person who accepted it and their full name.

You can screenshot that as proof of delivery.

Do go ahead with the MR, expect to be knocked back there and go to tribunal where you will be given a fair hearing.

jackparlabane · 10/07/2019 23:36

Don't give up! It's amazing how many PIP documents get 'found' within a couple hours of you telling them the tracking details or that it was signed for on x date...

netflixlove · 11/07/2019 00:17

@jackparlabane I wouldn't be surprised if they suddenly found it tbh! Looking for any excuse to cut back.Angry

Getting the tracking number from my dad tomorrow (as he sent it off) then I will be seeing where it is and calling them.

@BlankTimes I am fully prepared to go to tribunal, it's just so hard with no income the past few months. Really takes everything from you and causes so much more unnecessary stress. It's made my illnesses worse!

@FFSOMG that's brilliant for you, well doneThanks it's a horrid thing to go through isn't it!

im in a group that help with benefits on fb, the admin are very clued up and alot of members ask how long it takes etc for MR to be dealt with, some of them have been waiting over a year! its shocking that people have to wait that long. are you claiming universal credit? if so make sure you are handing in sick notes to be assessed for lwrca, your first sick note needs to be for a month before it will trigger the form. the group is called universal credit essentials incase you wish to join

netflixlove · 11/07/2019 08:58

@imamum21 Thank you, I'm not eligible for UC unfortunately as my partner earns too much. (Even though we don't share finances!)

Keep trying, don't give up. In my experience over 90% of reconsiderations are rejected but over 90% of appeals are upheld. I know managing without that bit of regular is difficult the only brightside is the amount of back payments DWP will have to cough up when you are successful at Tribunal

Aj63 · 11/07/2019 15:04

Missed the word income in my last post
Sorry brain going faster than fingers

Chippy1953 · 11/07/2019 22:06

Hi just wondering how to find the Facebook's help as my son has had his benefits stopped in april because he couldnt attend his appointment and i am keeping him afloat. With money .we are hoping for a good decision next week

Aj63 · 11/07/2019 22:59

What stage are you at with this? First step would be mandatory reconsideration
If that failed then an appeal to the Tribunal Service. If you expecting a result next week is it because you have a date for tribunal?

Annannann · 12/07/2019 06:54

I've just had my pip stopped, now from what little esa I have I have to now contribute to my rent too. They take benefits away and expect you to pay more with less, it's silly. I'm the same, the transcript of the assessment was nothing like the actual assessment, complete lies by the assessor, it's disgusting. I sent my MR notice back with tracking so bearing in mind what happened to you I'm going to ring them to make sure they've got it. Another thing that's annoyed me is that my previous PIP award that's just been stopped actually had an end date of December 23rd 2019. Why do they put an end date it they're not going to honour it? I've been suicidal, my grown up children have been buying me food and giving me money, the odd £20, but they're not loaded, they're working single parents without savings. I don't know how these assessors can sleep at night, lying and making people's lives a misery. If I could get an admin job working from home they could stuff their benefits. It's horrendous having to rely on others to decide whether you live or just exist. I've got fibro and complex mental health issues and the assessor was not competent to assess me and just concentrated on the fibro part of my claim. Thanks to that assessment and the PIP being denied I have had to stop using paid services for washing and Podiatry which has led to injuries; a broken finger when I attempted to get in the over bath shower and I stabbed myself with nail scissors trying trying to cut my toenails, this cut got infected so now I'm on antibiotics. It's ridiculous that we are treated like 3rd class citizens if we dare to consider ourselves disabled.
